Morning randomguy81.
When my dad died I later that night took a sleeper to assist with sleeping away from the pain.
Which pain are you self-medicating for?

Yo. rdm81.
Ruminating thoughts is what you are describing and there are a few options for that experience.
One option is to think about really challenging to you things. Like if you find maths hard, then do maths until you are exhausted and can sleep. Try to do it in your head too, yep mental maths.
Another options is the movement field. Go for walk, do lots push ups, wearing oneself out physically some how.
third option is to start putting timed boundaries on allowing yourself to ruminate... something like, I can ruminate on friday night for 10 minutes after dinner. Whatever boundaries u want/need/ think might work.
Do u have a partner or friend to communicate with just before sleep?
love dng.
