Hi SadSad,

I'm sorry to hear the past few years have been difficult. I'm glad you reached out here though. I also suffer from depression and have found these forums helpful. Sometimes it's comforting to talk to someone who can relate to what you're going through.

Hello SadSad,

Very sorry to hear about your mental health challenges that you are going through. Thank you for reaching out and talking about it. Having depression for 7 years is a very long time.

Although depression is common and can be treated with support, it is extremely important to seek help which you have done here, really proud of you.

If I may ask and if you feel like sharing, do you have any family or friends with whom you can talk and support you? Are you constantly depressed or does it come and go?

Also, have you spoken to your GP or a qualified health practitioner?

Depression is something that doesn't go away on its own. Please talk to your GP as soon as possible so they can find the right treatment and support to help you manage your depression better.

You are not alone, I am here to listen and support if you need...

Take care

Hi there,

Thank you for posting! Even just a few words can carry a lot, and we want you to know we’re really glad you reached out.

Twenty years is such a long time to be carrying the weight of depression, and it’s completely understandable that it still feels hard. Long-term mental health struggles can feel exhausting, and it takes a lot of strength to keep going through that.

If you ever feel like talking more about your experience or what's been helping (even just a little), this community is here for you. And if things feel particularly heavy, the Beyond Blue Support Service is always available on 1300 22 4636 or via webchat: https://www.beyondblue.org.au/get-support.

You’re not alone — thank you again for sharing.

Kindly,
Sophie M
