Depression & Eating Disorder

I have depression, anxiety and apparently dysthymia, then after reading the information for women I display every sign of having an eating disorder, apart from actually being anorexic. I'm actually feeling quite low now. Does anyone else suffer from an eating disorder? And willing to admit it,? Huh! That's the hardest part.

I have a history of eating disorders, mostly anorexia. At the moment my weight is healthy but I do have to keep a watch on my internal thoughts cause I can slide up and down the weight pendulum very easily.

The first step is recognising for your self that your relationship with food and weight is unhealthy. I know its hard to come to this point but you've been brave to post your realisation...big hugs xxx.  Try not to be too hard on yourself, its ok to be where you are.

The next step is seeking help...sending you strength so you can do this x.

Hi there Petite 3

Welcome to Beyond Blue and thank you so much for providing this post.

Your last 4 words said it all, I thought:  “That’s the hardest part”.

Who’s willing to admit?

It’s like any mental illness or perhaps a battle with alcohol or other vices – the admitting to it;   BUT once that’s done, there can be a huge weight lifted off one’s shoulders.  Because from there, it’s walking down a path towards finding ways to help yourself with the battle.

And just as Purple Shade mentioned, the next step is to seek out help.

Not sure if you’ve got a good gp to go too – if yes, then disregard this, but if not;  on this site, Beyond Blue have a list of gp’s that can be searched for.  These gp’s are on this site as they’re all experienced in dealing with matters of mental health issues and from there, they would be best suited to provide you with possible referrals to where-ever, who-ever they may think would be most suitable for you.

I’ve rambled a bit here, but do hope I’ve said something of use.

Would love to hear back from you also.

Kind regards

Neil
