Anyone claimed TPD for mental health?

Hello,
I am thinking about claiming Total Permanent Disability (TPD) insurance through my superannuation for my mental health. I left work a few years ago and I am very unwell mentally. I have quite a lot of money there in my superannuation insurance, but the thought of going through the process with the super funds makes me feel sick. I heard it is a tough process, very long, and insurance funds come after you and make life even more difficult.
I have undergone many Independent Medical Exams (IMEs) in the past (due to a workers compensation situation - which was successful in my favour) and the IMEs are really awful. I'm not sure I can go through all that process again, but the money could make a big difference to my life (and to my children too).
Has anyone claimed TPD and can you give some information about the process, what was involved and is it worth doing, or does it make your mental health worse?
Thank you.

Hi Jo, welcome
My daughter 33yo, was successful making a claim for superannuation insurance payout for TPD. Also I'm now retired but was heavily involved in insurance investigations for fraud and am familiar with the industry.
Your biggest challenge IMO is the acceptance of the DNA of the industry in that it is chaotic, enduring, stressful and spaced out over years. If you accepted that the claim will go on for many years and you wont be saying "cant wait till its over" then you have an opportunity for justice. This problem effects those that expect the claim to be over and settled in a couple of years, few medical examinations (interrogations) and explosions of expected payouts. For this reason most elect to seek solicitor services expert in the field of TPD.
There's a saying in the Army "you cant rush the green machine". Meaning, in your case you have zero control over it's pace. As I said, accept that and in the meantime get on with living while the claim does its thing and you'll be happier.
Save every piece of paperwork for your solicitor. Write down a detailed account for your injury/ies so it saves the solicitor contacting you (again allows you to live life happier) and I see no reason why you cant make your claim and go through with it. You could also ask your solicitor to email you questions instead of ringing, this gives you time to process the questions instead of trying to come up with answers immediately. Much more relaxing.
You have the right to make a claim and with legal endorsement you can make such a claim whether successful or not. I wish you well. My daughters quality of life was improved with her successful claim and assisted her in buying land for a house and a easier future financially.
Good luck. I hope I've helped.

Hi Tony
Thank you for your response.
I will contact a few solicitors and see if there is anyone who can give me some legal advice, and assist me (and not charge a fortune). I googled a few 'TPD lawyers' and it is overwhelming how many companies do TPD claims. I want someone very experienced who can give me lots of reassurance along the way.
I will try to keep my expectations low and hopefully that way, I won't get my hopes up and be disappointed.
Thanks again for your suggestions. I am glad to hear your daughter was successful with her claim and her life improved. I hope I have a similar outcome!
kind regards
