Dear Tayla~
Nice to see you made it over here, sometimes I can't find it without doing a search 😞
There's a web-site called epguides.com which has an amazing list of around 10,300 TV series and their episodes. It says Heartbeat 1:8 is about the gypsies, which I sort of remember set off the local inhabitants (now that's not too much of a spoiler I hope.
I do remeber enjoying the show and always thought it a loss when Walter Williams (Greengrass) left due to ill health even though 'Onslow' was a pretty good substitute.
Actually I enjoyed Onslow when I first met him in 'Keeping Up Appearances' and my partner Mrs C still says "Mind the pedestrian" as a joke when I'm driving.

hey Croix. Bill Maynard plays Greengrass, not Walter Williams. Onslow then Vernon Scripps in Heartbeat (although i'm not up to his appearance in Heartbeat yet) is played by Geoffrey Hughes. oh yes i think i know the episode you mean about the gypises.

Thanks Tayla~
My memory is not what I thought! My excuse is the distance between my birthrate and the present day🤔
Did you enjoy 'Keeping up Appearances'? I loved Hyacinth changing the pronunciation of bucket to bouquet. Clever writing.
Could not help feeling sorry for the henpecked husband Richard.
Are you watching anything else in the old comedy line ATM?

all good Croix. Keeping Up Appearances was okay, it's not my favourite but i don't dislike it. Patricia Routledge is a good actress. sad that Josephine Tewson who plays Elizabeth passed away a few days ago, but she was 91. i believe Patricia Routledge is 93. are you a fan of Are You Being Served? i ask this because Josephine Tewson was in a sitcom with only 6/7 episodes with John Inman (Mr Humphries from Are You Being Served) called Odd Man Out. it's on Youtube, or on DVD, i have it on DVD. i think it's funny, particulary the episode where he learns to drive. i've only seen her in those 2 things, & Patricia Routledge in KUA so far. but i do know that Patricia Routledge is in a show which is supposed to be good called Hetty Wrainthrop Investigates or something like that, i haven't watched it yet. i haven't watched any comedy things except rewatching Are You Being Served sometimes, no. just been watching Heartbeat episodes on my iPad, & when it's on TV here. you?

Dear Tayla~
I really liked "Hetty Wainthrop Investigates" and was sorry it was only a short lived series. It certainly went to show how flexible an actor Patricia Routledge was. I suppose the nearest thing now is "Vera"
I'd quite forgotten about Josephine Tewson , the nervous neighbor. Sad she has passed away.
Yes I certainly enjoy "Are you being Served" and in fact have all the DVDs. There are many classic scenes in it and I loved that deep voice "Menswear" . Quite often when I'm in a shop buying clothes I ask "Will they ride up with wear?", sadly not many people get it nowadays.
I've found the episodes of "Odd Man Out" thanks and will have a look, one thing strikes me straight away, John Inman answers the phone quite differently:)

hi Croix, & others. sorry i haven't been replying to threads much, although i read them sometimes.
i haven't watched the Hetty Wrainthrop invesigates or anything else with Patricia Routledge, or even Josephine Tewson, maybe one day. i've watched as many things as i can find with John Inman such as interviews, etc. and lol i certainly get the quote. i think of random quotes from AYBS, the movie, & the sequel Grace & Favour/Are You Being Served again. i have them all on DVD. John Inman is also in a 6/7 episode sitcom called Take A Letter Mr Jones, where he plays a male secretary, to a female boss played by Rula Lenska. there's an episode in that where an Aussie businessman comes & they both end up drunk in the office while the boss is away, lol. it's funny. sadly only on DVD i believe but i found on DVD, aswell as Odd Man Out, both on eBay, although Odd Man Out, AYBS, Grace & Favour & the AYBS movie are online to watch.
have you watched Heartbeat on TV here on 7TWO at 7:30pm on Wednesday nights?
the end of the Odd Man Out episodes, John addresses the audience with something like "thanks ever so much for watching, goodnight, god bless", i think it's sweet.

Dear MK
I have to say you are basically a stirrer, and I think you are lucky if there is only a walrus after you! The penguins will be next for suggesting they sound like walruses.

Dear Tayla~
Hetty Wainwright Investigates is a different sort of thing, she still lives in a flat and has litle money, but the show is a serious drama. It might not appeal to you
Sadly I've not been able to watch Heartbeat much, thogh Mrs C does. I catch a bit in the kitchen if we are having a cuppa at the right time.
I have only started on "Odd Man Out", though it is funny, the fish shop very much reminds me of one I used to go to with my grandmother (Nain) in Wales when I was a kid. The only difference (apart from John Inman of course) is they used newspaper to wrap the fish and chips
Actually I mentioned that shop here

Hello Croix and other friends...re Are You Being Served....I met John Iman some years back. He never once said "I'm Free" but seemed quite "normal" and my then young son was delighted of course, as he kindly signed something for him.
I've met a lot of famous people....I'll make a list one day. No I won't....but I'd love too!!!! I don't post as often as I used to I realise....it is my old Anxiety raising its ugly head..."frightened" that I will get lost on the new Forum again . I used to be on here a lot. I miss it, but still a bit frightened of it. Anxiety sufferers will understand..
Croix...there's just one place I never suffer from an anxiety attack..just never have and never will....I suppose you can guess where that is, but keep it our little secret will you? xx
