hey Croix and mmMekitty. no Heartbeat isn't finished yet, it's only series 6 episode 10 on next Wednesday. only new thing I've been watching is The Goodies, my Dad likes them and used to watch it back in the day. I've known of them for ages but only started watching them when Foxtel started playing some episodes so I watch them or catch up on them. I've been watching some online too from the start, online I think I'm up to series 2 episode 12. is anyone a fan of them? I like them all, but Bill is my favourite. I relate to him with his mental health issues, and I just think he's cute really, an interesting person. he also loves animals and is a birdwatcher. but I like Tim and Graeme too. such a shame Tim passed away from COVID in 2020 (RIP). btw I was robthomaslover and a couple of other usernames, I just asked for it to be changed. things have been pretty average for me. I keep meaning to check the forums but I forget. I hope you've all been well too.

Dear Britishtvfan~
Yes of course I remember your alter-egos, and am surprised that Heartbeat is still on the go. I must confess it did not have quite hte same appeal after Claude Greengrass disappeared and Oscar Blaketon left the force. They were a great pair with their feud
It took a long time for the Goodies to come out on DVD except for a few episodes. Now all are available. I'd have to say my favorite was Tim, wiht his union jack waistcoat, worshiping the queen and shiny shoes (pus his photo of Prince Charles with ears that flapped out).
I really like an episode where they just gave concert of their songs, from "Funky Gibbon" to "S-s-shiny shoes". I think there was even a punk rock number.
I'm sorry things are only average for you. I do hope you remember to check here more often, it's good to talk with you and also remeber old shows.
Croix.

Dear MK~
Your remark about the beach reminded me of the Goodies teaching their dog Cuddly Scamp Hairylegs of Cricklewood to talk:
Goody,"Whats on top of the house?
CSHoC, "Roof"
Goody, "What's one divided by two?"
CSHoC,"Arf"
No, I'm afraid those Welsh beaches were not covered in roofing shingles, but shingle, which is lots and lots of very small pebbles and grit. Not fun to walk on in bare feet.
You may be able to gather bi luminescence by following ER, I think maybe rays do generate some by their movement though water containing bacteria and algae. It certainly would make for a unique castle.
Your recipe for oarfish sounds delicious but even if you and LRK started at opposite ends I think it would take you several sittings to be in a position to bump noses.
I'm afraid Sumo will not join in the fray, he requires his repasts individually served on suitable feline family heirloom platters in a dignified manner.

hey Croix and others.
I'm up to series 9 episode 14 of Heartbeat when I watch it online, but I've only been watching the episodes on TV here lately. yes poor Oscar, Greengrass was a good laugh aswell as others in the show. Oscar was my favourite obviously. such a shame there's so many actors no longer with us who have bought us joy. Yes that episode you described with the music is called Almost Live, I watched it on Foxtel so streamed it. They all have good voices, Bill is my favourite and I think he has the best voice. I think he's cute, especially without the beard but with the beard too. I relate to him with his mental health issues and love for animals, and him being shy. They have some good funny episodes and catchy songs.

Hey Croix...you might get a giggle out of this. Waiting in a Drs surgery recently, all sitting quietly staring into space or glancing around the room not knowing or speaking to anyone...as you do...(or glued to your phone of course) I saw a fellow waiting-room patient who was the image....I am not exaggerating Croix....the very image of John Cleese. Not the younger black haired John, but more like how he is now...the greying hair etc.
I swear I was stunned and had to force myself not to stare, but the likeness was uncanny. He was very tall, same build and as he gazed around the room of course his eyes skimmed across me and I hope he did not notice my open mouth and wide-eyed stare at the poor man. But I think he may have. surely someone has mentioned this to him before.....I was kinda hoping he'd suddenly do something hilarious...a funny walk..
I could not take my eyes off him!

Dear Moon~
There is a good 2023 pic of Mr Cleese on his page in Wikipedia. Still very recognizable. I'm sure the gentleman you saw in the surgery must have been well aware of the likeness and used to people eihter staring or avoiding his glance.
I was not aware until I read the page the the first of his many marriages was to Connie Booth. I'm not sure how easy he would have been to live with (or act with as in Fawlty Towers).
Maybe that look alike does do some of his numbers for a laugh, bit of an opportunity not many get.
Amazing what one can see in a waiting room:) I'm sure the other occupants would be thinking the lady sitting there looks awfully like the famous bowling Moon.

Hi Britishtvfan
I liked Bill second best, - I liked Kitty Kong the most!
I suppose you know Bill went on to have a solo career?
When I saw the Goodies, it was on late afternoons, & was a great way to let go of the school day & relax a while, before doing chores & homework.
No, I don't know if it was on every afternoon, but when it was, it was great.
What do young people have to look forward to now, when they come home from school, I wonder. Maybe repeats of Hard Quiz (which I love, by the way)?
However, those who can enjoy such things as Netflicks, will have many more options for what to watch.

Hilarious, Croix & Moon!
One thing I think I'd loathe about being famous is the idea of being recognised, & another would be if people couldn't help but dramatically make a scene, demand autographs, or photograph or film me without my consent. But, hey, if I was in a humourous mood, I might do a funny walk - without anyone asking.
But, maybe it would be flattering to be recognised, for a while.
If I was famous for a particular role, or show or movie, long ago, & people don't seem to have figured out I have done other things, then only being recognised for the old things could get very old very quickly, I reckon.
I might prefer to meet someone who could be a potential friend more than meeting someone who idolises me for a role in that old tv show or movie. The role is NOT me. That's why I think it would irk me.

Dear MK, Moon and BritishTVfan~
It can go two ways and I'm really please for you Moon that your achievements were recognized. I guess in the world of bowling popularity is a factor in one's career.
I'd have to say I'd personally not like to be recognized in the street. I think you are spot on MK that wiht acting people sometimes only see a compilation of a compilation of characters.
BritishTVfan makes a good point wiht Bill Oddie whom they like not only for his acting but also for his real life mental health issues.
Probably being a musician is a bit better as it relates more closley to the self, but whatever it is people will not always see the real you.
As an internationally famous walrus constantly mobbed by the paparazzi I can speak from experience - why do you think I live on an isolated iceberg in the middle of the ocean?
For young people htere is so much more ot choose from rather than just free to air TV. With streaming and plus as you mention social media, TikTok, Instagram and all. At least htey are not passive, just siting htere, but of course have thier own downsides. Talking on the phone is another.
