ER, it is the reverse version which is the equivalent of Om mani padme hum mantra of all inebriated beings. It is a certain proof that one is not inebriated 'enough' if one can sing the song entirely backwards.

If the kiwis are navel-gazing, they best do so very mindfully, lest they poke their beaks right through the middle & out the other side & will awake to find themselves feeling very deflated. No simple hangover, this.

Hi Croix and MK,

Thank you for your literary creation Croix. You are helping inspire me to create worster poems. MK, “engorge a gorge” is a fine ending. Yes, too much naval gazing from a kiwi could lead that long snoot of theirs to poke through to the other side.

There was a penguin named Clyde

Who liked to whiz down a slide

Over the igloo

And into the deep blue

Waking the walrus inside

Croix, I have a last line for you, (& a little bit of punctuation). Hope you like:

A kiwi has a beaky snoot.

Its private life is a hoot.

With empty bottles all around,

In corners snoring it is found,

With a walrus smelling of vintage fruit.

Good haiku, Croix. Like this one?

*    Smell

Walrus rests replete

Leftover clams at his 'feet'

Cherry blooms smell sweet.

Focused ideas in time

Haikus need not rhyme.

Cute penguin waddles

Amongst a sprawl of kiwis

Emitting loud snores

Resplendent walrus

Silhouetted at sunset

Upon the iceberg

Little red cat leaps

Onto the igloo boldly

To enjoy the view

Dear ER~

I had people like you at school. They would muck round, not study and generally have a good time - then come top of the maths class. I agonized over each syllable in the three lines of my haiku and you dash of a page's worth -sheesh
