I had enjoyed singing "Those Boodts Were Made for Walking" song when I was young. I haven't listened to it for a long time, so my memory of how it ended with the bass notes, sounding to me like a descending series of dum diddy, dums & then the brass enters like a fanfare to walk her off the stage! I can admit, I may have got the number of dum diddy dums wrong.

Shall i go in search of the truth? I'm sure it's out there!

Later, but. it's gotten really late.

Hi Croix & everyone

I have already forgotten the context of what I was listening to when I heard a little of an old Petula Clark song, 'Colour my world' - a very bright & pretty & so happy a song.

I used to like singing some songs of hers when I had a cold or flu because of how my voice sounded. Somehow her songs from the album my father had made a good combination.

This was when I was a young teenager. We had a pool. Sometimes it was emptied, like in winter, or for repainting, or when we had Snorky the black pig, cause he lived there, in the pool.

Anyway, once when it was empty, & a cover had been placed over the top, & some of us kids got down in there to play, & I had a cold so I was singing Petula Clark songs.in the swimming pool.

How many people in the world do you suppose can say that?

I had a feeling proper Summer days couldn't stay away from me all Summer. Looks like I will have some hot days coming up very soon. I hope to go swimming in my support worker's pool Thursday, even though it means NDIS pays her more because of the public holiday.

Still, it's not like I'm expecting 40+ eh?

Hope you are keeping well & your iceberg is not melting or being washed away.

Hmm, I wonder if there are liquids which would freeze at a higher temperature? Maybe we fix those oceans, reconstitute your iceberg & the top of Mt Everest ...

My gardening is much like my knowledge of transport vehicles. In my mind, vehicles are categorized by the number of wheels. I recognise the bigger the vehicle the more wheels it tends to have.

Dear mMekitty

It's a cheerful song but catching a cold just to be able to sing it seems a trifle extreme

"You can color my world

wiht happiness all the way"

Was you pig named after Al Capone the gangster? His nickname was 'Snorky' too

I hpe you enjoy your swim, it's a wonder NDIS is prepared to pay penalty rates, that's great.

My iceberg is just fine and dandy, provided it does not get chipped away by penguins for ice in their martinis. It has much more of a 'resort' atmosphere nowadays. Still I have the tiny umbrella concession and sell them to go in the drinks, I think either Grandy or DB has cornered the olive market. I think the toothpick empire is still up for grabs.

Hello Tealflowers. [LRC smiles & purrs]

How have you been?

I've mostly been talking about how I'm changing my diet & doing more exercise.

Sometimes I think of old songs I haven't thought of or sun in a long, long time. Songs performed by such people as Petula Clark, Nancy Sinatra & Melanie. These sorts of memories lead to other memories, which may even be good memories.

Also some of us are thinking about what we want to achieve for ourselves this year.

So, what about you, Tealflowers? What's been foremost on your mind lately?

I'm not watching much TV, just old repeats of a few quiz shows, some other shows on ABC, which are news related or community/social related. There was a great show on SBS about country music, a month or so ago. I missed the beginning, so I would like to go & see the start of that series. I had trouble using SBS's website, so, I hope they will air the programme again some day.

I hope you have been keeping well.

Hello Croix....I decided to put a quick hello on your thread here...so you'd see it...I did answer a couple of your latest questions on my own thread...but anyway....yes I am receiving a special recognition type of award this year  and want to say a few words.....a short speech I guess....scared I will ramble.  Its terribly hot here on Australia Day..{ the country is stuffed anyway, so is the world in general actually...the end must be nigh!!.

Christmas was ghastly as usual...thank God its over!  didn't think I'd make it through this year...I hid in the house, closed all the curtains but it tried to seep through the cracks.....not safe anywhere....it's relentless! Perhaps I'll have to build a kind of bunker/shelter for next year.....or get on a plane that crosses the dateline and go from 24th to 26th!!   even then the crew wouldn't probably let me escape and put on their stupid red and white caps and sling tinsel around so the passengers "don't miss out on Christmas"........I believe this happened to a friend of mine, while in the air, she sighed with relief that she'd completely missed the 25th...but No, they made sure she didn't escape!!!!!!

Hi Tealflowers

So sorry to hear you've been feeling awful. I always hope the best & for happiness for you.

If you'd rather talk about what's been happening for you, at your thread, would you tell me/us the name of your thread, so I/we might find it?

Did you do anything special today?

Hi Moon

Great to see you found your way here.

I hope we're really not yet at the 'End of the World is Nigh' year, or even decade, just yet.

I don't think Christmas is going to be abolished any thime soon. I think, cherry pick the bits you do like, & make a little fun time for yourself. Since you do have family you care about very much, would it hurt you to phone them for Christmas & any other day you like, as well? If you enjoy fruitcake, don't call it 'Christmas Cake'.

Like I don't do Xmas Dinner, but I will do a little more special than usual dinner for myself. It's a little departure from the usual, that doesn't have to have anything to do with Christmas. I can have that on another day, like for my Sis's Birthday, (even though she doesn't do Birthdays either), & celebrate her Birthday anyway, 'cause I'm glad she's alive.

I actually like some of the ornaments, like bells, so I have some hanging all year round.

I think I told you, I used to hide away, try to avoid Xmas, much as you are doing now. It was like a battle I could not win. I am now not fighting it so much & finding I can enjoy some of it now. I would like to wind back all the commercialism, all the pressure to spend for gifts as if these things are love in a box & the shinier & bigger the box means you love all the more. We know that's not true. I do like how it can be about showing love with a gift which you make yourself, or the small, simple keepsake type of gift, one which you carefully select for the individual. These things can be given any day of any year, for many reasons that have nothing to do with Christmas.

If people you know are doing Christmas, then it may just be the little gift from you that shows them you respect their personal practices.

You probably think I'm banging on a bit. It's only because I'd like to see you feeling easier, less perturbed by it all, & so, less at war with it.

I even spent a fair bit of money for things for myself, during December, & I didn't mind fooling around, calling them Xmas prezzies for me, even though I knew otherwise. But, guess what, it is rather nice to think of buying myself such expensive items for my own Xmas prezzies - thing I wouldn't have chosen if I had specifically gone out to buy myself Xmas prezzies. Weird tha, huh?

hi mmMekitty, Croix, Moon, and if anyone else is here.

mmMekitty - thank you for the kind words, the same goes to you and everyone here in this thread and on the forums. my thread is called "can't take it anymore" in the suicidal thoughts section. i should've put trigger warnings but i thought it would be ok being in that section.

no nothing special.
