Its with great relief that Friday is here, 2 days to chill out. However work is on my mind. I struggle with conflict and am confronted by other members of the team getting angry but being aggressive. I start second quessing, blaming and remonstrating with myself. My internal voice is active and gathering evidence that Im not good at my job.
My anxiety is hitting fever pitch and if I cannot debunk my negative thoughts I will be living into them.
Decided to try this forum as a way of debunking the negative thoughts and getting some perspective so I can over come my anxiety and empower myself.

Hello Rurrmble,

Well I am new to this forum as well but what I have learned that this forum has helped many people overcoming their problems.

Work is always stressful no matter what work we are doing. We always judge our self if we are capable to perform well. We sometime quest our capability and capacity on how well we can perform. We get anxiety of what people think of us and we question if what they say is true or not.

Don't doubt yourself. When you doubt yourself then you loose yourself and you start to question your judgement, loose focus and started to build emotional feelings. You know what you do is correct. Do not doubt that. Colleague are usually like that. They start to find some fault in you as they themselves do not believe themselves. Sometimes they just want to mess you up cause they themselves have doubt. Have courage. You should not take things into yourself. You should try to speak out. You only can do your best at work. Your not a robot to do things. Don't care what they say. You be smart. Take your time and space. As long as you do it within the time frame. Learn to be smart at work not be hardworking.

If you have an anxiety at work. Just sit down and breath slowly. It will allow you to calm your anxiety and you become less stressful and you can perform well. Just don't put that into your mind as it will eat you. When it eats you it will haunt you as you will become weak and your body become weak. Don't let the negative to empower the positive.

There is no way we can run from any problem. It's Friday and you have two days to relax and refresh. Do something crazy. Have fun. Enjoy your self. Don't take the bad to your weekend. Just jump, shout and shake it up.

If you want to share your work and what you do with me, I am happy to listen even though I may not be the same professional.

Hey Rururumble, sorry to hear you're going through a tough time - can I ask what type of environment you work in? Is it common for conflict and confrontation to occur? It may just be that confrontation is a common theme in the job - some places are "just like that" e.g. the Army . . . can't really think of any others! but there are a million reasons why people may be confrontational, and most of the time it's not something you have done. You're feeling anxiety but they may also be going through similar issues and problems, letting them vent at work. In saying that, there is never an excuse for a place ever being "just like that" . . .

Either way, do you have a manager that you could talk to about it? Being open and honest with them is always a good start. Even if it's them that's causing the anxiety, a conversation may be a good starting point, with them or with Human Resources to ask advice about conflict. I know very few people that enjoy conflict, so you're not alone and certainly there is plenty of help here on the forum.

As for the negative thoughts, for me the demons come in the night time and the voices don't quieten sometimes...but you have to believe in yourself, that you're good enough, don't deserve (ever) to be shouted at. Compassion starts at home, often with yourself. To quote Citizen Smith, "don't let the bar$t@rds get you down!"
