Tough day today - "wagged" work

Meowface

Had a tough day today - woke up on the wrong side of the bed - didn't go for my walk which normally gets me going. Had to have some difficult conversations at work and had to drive between stores during the day. I felt really overwhelmed and took a longer lunch break to go home and just curled up on the couch in my dressing gown for 30 minutes. I got back to work but felt a bit guilty about longer break - or maybe it's better than having the whole afternoon off with a panic attack? It can be hard to meet our every day responsibilities when we're struggling.

Hi MF

With any mental illness, endurance is what we lack. Also consistancy of mood and waking up like the previous day.

Unfortunately there is no easy fix, the remedy is a long term one of multi approaches. Like these-ot

Lots of sleep. Nightly more than 8 hours

Deep breathing

Exercises, you do this

Medication

Removing toxic people from your life.

Muscle tensioning exercises helped me emensley

Therapy

Meowface, there is nothing wrong with taking some time away from work if you are not up to it mentally. There is no difference between feeling mentally and physically unwell.

I think you did the right thing by taking some time for you - you invested in your own health and you should never feel bad for doing that.

I spent the whole day in bed this week as well. Doesn't really help though does it? Feel weak about it all when i do it. I tell people at work that i have a migraine.

Hey I think we all have tough days and you should not feel guilty at all however I know the feeling I've wagged work been on my way and turned around and gone back home because I felt like I couldn't be there you should be proud of yourself for going and making the effort !!!!!

Bookgirl, Diamondback is spot on. If you were physically unable to work, would you feel weak about that?

There was an article in the paper a few mths back where a CEO basically gave the instruction that it is perfectly okay to take a mental health day. Got massive cudos for doing that.

I have a high work ethic and have never taken a day off in the pure "wagging" sense but have taken days off where i just could not go in due to my mental state and i have no issue doing that.

Your mental health is everything so please do not feel weak when you are looking after yourself. You are absolutely doing the right thing.
