Tiredness from anxiety

Hello all,

Im just interested to see if anybody else is suffering from being tired most days from anxiety. I feel it mostly in the early afternoon and can barely stay awake and I don’t have a overly busy lifestyle. I just want energy....

any suggestions?

Hi Mumofnah,

Anxiety makes me tired all the time.

I try to get a good nights sleep, eat decently and be as active I can be. I don't get huge amounts of energy but it does get me through the day.

Hi, welcome

I assume you are not in medication as you haven’t mentioned it.

There are many variables associated with feeling tired after lunch. I suggest a sleep study could be beneficial. Ask your GP.

Hello Mumofnah,

I get tired whenever I get consistently anxious for a few days. I suspect it has something to do with how tense I am throughout the day and the quality of my sleep (I wake up feeling tired despite sleeping the night through). What helps for me is progressive muscle relaxation during the day to reduce tension and using a mindfulness app (e.g. Smiling Mind). Scented candles can also help, if you like them.

Cheers,
M

Hi Gambit87,

I must admit I don’t have a consistent bed time I try but family commitments don’t really allow it atm.

I am eating well, have given up caffeine, and junk food all together.

im just so over yawning all the time and it’s the worst when I am having conversation with someone and I’m pretty much yawning in there face I feel so rude but just can’t help it!

I could try walking more. I suffering from mild depression. Also have 4yo next to me 24/7 so doing most things is just such a effort, it’s not just put my shoes on and go...very frustrating indeed.

thank you for your tips and I WILL walk more no matter how hard it is and see if it helps 🙂

Hi White Knight,

No I am not on any medication but am seeing a physiologist for the anxiety and mild depression. Only 3rd session in so very new.

I don’t know anything about sleep study but I will be sure to look it up.

thank you for the advice o am about to have a look at the beyond blue topic now 😉

Hello Emmen,

I think you may be right about the constant anxiety thoughts contributing to the tiredness.

I also have the smiling mind app and find it great but have only been able to use at night as I don’t really have the freedom to do it during the day as I have my son with me all the time so have to wait for hubby to get home at night so he can keep keep the kids away while I do my mindfulness..

I don’t really know anything about progressive muscle relaxation I am going to look it up though and what I have to do.

thank you so very much for the tip.👍

Hi Mumofnah,

Thanks for reaching out.

I can relate to your experience. What works best for me is motivating myself to take a walk in the morning or even some slight stretching in the garden if I don't feel like seeing other people on my walk. I think breathing in the outside oxygen is really beneficial in making me feel more alive and productive throughout the day. I realised after being at home for so long, I formed a bad association with doing work on my bed. So I make sure I steer clear from my bed throughout the day and only go on it when sleeping.

Wishing you all the best!
