Panic attacks

Hi. I have been struggling with anxiety for a while now. There are lots of stressful things going on and the stress seems to have become constant anxiety. I started having panic attacks recently but didnt know what it was till I saw my Dr. I feel like life is so bad and just out of control I dont want to see any friends or do anything anymore. Its hard to get motivated or function. Does anyone have advise on how to manage or ideas to help.?

Hi blondguy

Yes I do have a supportive friend who I am going to make the effort to visit tomorow. Just to see a friendly face would be nice.

I am so low it very hard to function at the moment . It is very hard to socialise and go out or even to get meals organised.

Good to talk

Hey Lumlo

Thats great that you have a supportive friend that can be there for you....Excellent!

Can I ask if you have a GP that you can 'talk' or 'vent' too?

When you say that you are 'low' at the moment....how do you actually feel?

Always great to have you as part of Beyond Blue Lumlo

Hi Blondguy,

It was good to visit my friend yesterday. I have been avoiding going as just did not have the energy to socialise. I couldnt face seeing people or relating.

When I said feeling low its no energy ,very flat,no motivation, its a effort to get food together, dont feel like talking or going out, basically struggle to motivate myself at all welcome binge netflix anything peaceful.

This is opposite to me usually when I keep active like to be productive and busy. Enjoy exercising and talking to friends.

Still feeling unwell sick in the stomach , tired, headaches, and shaky.

Managed to get an appointment for some therapy tomorow with someone new so hope it helps. I find it hard to talk to people I dont know openly so thought I would jot down some notes to take.

Hi blondguy

Yes shes a great friend. We have both cryed on each others shoulders and been there for a chat and a hug. I am very lucky.

Not such a good day with my son today . He got quite agitated with me . Paranoia I think, going on at me getting worked up over nothing. I was non reactive but cryed later. I miss how he was and Im scared for his future. Its just so hard to relate or help him.

Saw a new physcologist this afternoon and liked her. It was helpful and now have ongoing appointments so some hope for help with my panic attacks and anxiety.

I've also begun having anxiety attacks recently and something that I do is focus on settling my breathing, drinking plenty of water, and sometimes squeezing some ice cubes in my hands helps to calm me down. When I'm feeling anxious, going for a walk by myself or with a friend in the fresh air really helps me calm down. I hope you find something that works for you, and know you're not alone xx

Hi Autumn.red

Thanks for sharing. I also find going for a walk in nature a help. While walking I try to ground myself by noticing the trees and noises birds etc around me and not to allow negative thoughts .

My physcologist gave me some breathing exercises on a tape and it does help me relax. I am making a big effort to do this every day with the hope the panic attacks will reduce. Its a comfort to not feel alone.
