Hi All,
I really need some advice
Since Covid Lockdowns in 2020
Been really struggling with my mental health. As I'm sure many others around the world have also
I am currently prescribed medication having tried several medications previously.
Tested positive to covid 9 days ago and still have a cough
My anxiety is so bad at the moment, worse then ever from morning until night
What are your thoughts on Covid and how this impacts on mental health?
My Gp said if not better in a week she would increase again.
Have a psychiatrist appt tomorrow but I feel scared I'm going to be like this forever
It's horrible

Hey Turtle82
I think COVID has impacted everyone differently. Some people took it in their stride, others like yourself not so much.
And that's ok. Because we all react to things differently.
I had and still do have huge anxiety around COVID as my Dr told me I was in the high risk category. Caught it off one of my kids and the anxiety i felt was off the chart. If anyone at work wore a mask, my anxiety peaked.
What i realised was, its not something i can control. COVID is out there, and i have to deal. What i did do, was work on what i could control. My hygiene, my safety, and this helped.
As for it impacting others, i would say yes in some people their mental health was affected. Lock downs that went on forever, being cut off from friends and famlily certainly would have caused things to be difficult for people. Feelings of depression and anxiety around not being able to get out, to even grab a coffee and staring at the same fall walls day in day out, i know it drove people i know a little bit stir crazy. Throw in working from home and some people felt like prisoners in their own homes!
You are not alone in your feelings and maybe having a good chat with your GP when you see them next around what seems to be working for you and how your medication is working.
Take care and i hope you feel better soon
Jx

Hi Turtle82,
It is true that a big amount of people, even they were very healthy, have developed anxiety during the pandemic. It's ready hard isn't it?
Do you want to share what is it in your mind makes you feel anxious from morning until night? And how's your experience of the first meeting with the psychiatrist?
Hope everything will be better.

Thankyou for your reply
I appreciate it. I actually feel worse then when we were locked down
Meds I've only been on 3 weeks but could catching covid for the first time hinder that ?? I also have alot going on with my boys. I have 3 boys Aged 10,15 and 20. My youngest has ADHD awaiting an ASD assessment. Been struggling at school in all ways , and it's been so hard. My eldest has autism and is non Verbal, he can also become violent at times. He is meant to go to a day program 5 days a week but have been reduced to 2, due to his violence and lack of staff. It's hard
I'm hoping I can feel much better soon

Gosh Turtle82! You have a lot going on at the moment.
Im not a medical professional, but i don't think COVID can affect your meds. Best thing here for peace of mind would be to check with your GP.
Your boys also have a lot going on by the sounds of it. I can't begin to imagine how hard it must be to deal with it all. Do you have any help? Or a support network that you can turn to?
Self care is very important, so i hope you can find time for you in amongst the chaos!
Always here to talk if you need it.
Take care of yourself

Hi Turtle,
I am sorry you have been experiencing anxiety and contracted COVID. Being sick can definitely add to that anxiety as you are not feeling your best physically. Mental and physical health are more intertwined than you know. I am glad you are seeing your psych - how did your appt go?
It won't be forever, it always feels that way, but I promise you things will get better. Take it from me, many years recovered from anxiety.
I hope things improve soon,
Jaz xx
