Your reply to my first post only came up after a wrote the above.
You have indeed lost a lot all at once. Feeling the carpet being pulled from under your feet is hard to cope with. Losing regular contact with this little girl must be heart-breaking for you both. I am wondering if you have any family support at all to help ease the pain.... I was once told by someone wise that a fruit must fall to the ground and rot before its seeds can sprout new growth. It was long ago but at the time I found hope in this simple truth.
Your strength and courage alone will see you through this but it would be easier if you could join a group or activity you enjoy to meet people in whose company you feel comfortable. As single parents, neglecting our own needs is an easy trap to fall into. Of course, being sole carer for very young children makes finding me time difficult. How old are your kids ?
I hope today's appointment goes well. My thoughts are with you.

Hi guys,
I had my appointment with the gp who referred me to a psychologist. I was pretty devastated to hear theres 6 week waiting list to see her, but luckily someone had cancelled an appointment so i was able to make an appointment this week (2pm tomorrow) long story short i had to call the plumber today so i rang to see how long it usually takes for the appointment to find out the the gp receptionist wrote down the wrong date on my appointment card and ive missed the appointment.it was yesterday. Im totally shattered. Every thing is literally falling apart around me and i dont know what to do

Hi NB,
That's an unfortunate setback...Since the missed apt was due to the receptionist's mistake, perhaps they could make it up to you by "squeezing you in" earlier ? It may be worth asking.
I hope you have a peaceful week-end, regardless.

Hello New Beginning
I'm sorry you missed your appointment with the psychologist. After you have worked hard to go there and then find it's the wrong date is such a let down. Please hang on. I can understand how distressing this is and how you feel completely lost. I felt like this when I missed an appointment because I thought it was later in the day and went to sleep. It was really horrible and even though it was my own fault I did feel cheated. When is your next appointment? I hope you have been put on a cancellation list.
In the meantime how do you feel about doing some work on your own? Quite often we get quite emotional when we are telling our stories, I know I do. When we feel overwhelmed by our sadness or anger or whatever, it's really hard to speak at all, let alone tell your story. How would it be if you started to write everything down? You can write it anyway that feels best to you. Talk about your feelings and what makes you unhappy and happy. Write about the time with your partner and how you grew to care for his daughter. Talk about your present struggles and your determination to become well again. It won't be wasted time as you can give it the psych. Ask him/her to make a copy if you want to keep your writing.
Try writing a little each day as spending hours at a time can be exhausting. Keep writing in here and chat about whatever comes to mind. Tell us about the things you like to do, places you like to be.
Mary
