I've been experiencing bad anxiety lately due to the effects of an anti inflammatory steroid that I took for post covid symptoms. Since then I feel like the anxiety has steadily gotten worse and I've now developed Tinnitus from what I suspect is fluid in my ears. This has in turn increased my anxiety and it now have a loud buzzing/crickets noise in my head which I know is from the anxiety but it's also making my anxiety worse because I'm scared it won't go away. I'm off to the GP on Monday but in the meantime, how do reduce this? I'm so scared and my anxiety is now out of control and I feel like I'm spiralling out of control and in a vicious circle of being anxious about my anxiety. Hoping I'm not the only one experiencing this in my head.

Hi Billy105,
I'm sorry to hear that you're going through this scary experience. Being anxious about anxiety can definitely be a vicious cycle, that I myself have often been trapped in.
Visiting your GP is exactly the right step to take, make sure to discuss not only your physical symptoms but anxiety as well. Hopefully, they will be able to help with both. In the meantime, a short-term solution might just be distraction to help you get out of your head. Watch a comfort movie/TV, spend some time with friends or on a hobby that brings you peace.
Hope this helps and please feel free to update us after your appointment tomorrow : )

Hi Billy105,
Im sorry you are feeling this way.
I understand anxiety can be hard to deal with.
I think it’s great that you are going to see your doctor.
Sometimes it’s hard when we feel like we are stuck in our heads.
You could try to re direct your attention onto something in the present moment.
If you are outside bring your attention onto all the things you can see and really get up close to them and put your full attention onto the way they feel and smell.
I like choosing the simple things like a flower it’s amazing how beautiful they are when we give them our full attention we can become one with them and be in awwww of their appearance.
What we give attention to we give power to.

Hi Billy105,
I am sorry you are experiencing this, I think it is good you are going to your GP, hopefully, they will be able to help you. But for now, try to take some deep breaths and watch some Netflix, go for a walk or do something that might distract you from the anxiety. Time for some self-care! Even if you just spend Sunday, comfy in bed, watching Netflix.
I hope you find a solution,
Jaz xx
