I need to be able to leave the house....

Hi. This is my first time posting and I’m hoping for some help.

Im in the middle of a huge anxiety episode that began at work this afternoon. I’m scared and can’t do anything. My husband works away and is away at the moment and I need to be able to get control so I can take care of my kids and leave the house this weekend.

Can anyone give me some tips to try?

Thank you

Hi 🙂

a great way to ease yourself into getting back outside is to just do it a little bit at a time.

Start by just opening the door and taking a nice big deep breathe, maybe while listening to some calming music through headphones.

2nd take a few steps out, listening to music still

3rd try now 🙂 maybe down the drive way a little or to the street

4th up the street or to the neighbors place if you’re friendly with them 🙂

the biggest thing to remember is no matter how bad our anxiety gets if we take small steps at a time we can still reach our long term destination.

You can do it!!

Good luck 🙂

Hi No0ne,
Welcome to the forums. I've just seen your post so I'm wondering how you're going now that it's the weekend? How have you been coping so far?
I'm not sure that I have any hard and fast tips for coping with anxiety. It's a bit of a long road finding out what works for you and being able to practice different sorts of skills.
So for this weekend though, I've come up with this -
- Be kind to yourself. Having anxiety is not easy and if you're not able to do all the things that's okay. Maybe that means cutting yourself some slack this weekend - like ordering in tea, or hanging out inside for a while.
- Reward yourself. What's one hard thing that you have to do? Once you've done it, be proud.
- Have a think about how you can tackle your anxiety in the future. Maybe that could be mindfulness exercises, or seeing a therapist.
Hope this helps,
