Greetings all.
Before I start, I'd like to let everyone know that my dog is healthy and is six years of age, and shows no signs of slowing down.
I love my dog Bella so much, she is my best friend. In fact, we do most things together. We both thrive with routine, eat our breakfast (weet-bix and kibble respectively) at the same time everyday, our dinner at the same time everyday, and we go on walks at the same time everyday.
We've been through a lot together, so naturally I am very protective of her. We both took it hard when my mother passed away, as both Bella and I loved my mother dearly. I dislike when children run up and tug on Bella's fur or squeal at Bella, and I get angry and tell them to stop.
I am afraid of what she would do without me, but I realize I will most likely outlive her. And, frankly, I don't know what I will do without her. She has been by my side through countless panic attacks, slept with me when I was afraid and I am and always were there for her, too.
I have lost other dogs before, but I don't believe I'll be able to handle losing this one when I do. Apart from spending as much time with her as I can, and making sure she knows she is loved, how can I make sure that when she is gone I'll be okay?
I love her more than I love most.
Thanks, Penguin.

Hello penguin
I feel exactly the same my dog is 7 years old and hes been there for me through a lot as well, I've never owned a dog before so I'm not really sure what it's like to loose a dog. I'm constantly thinking how I'll be when that time comes. But right now I'm just trying to concentrate on enjoying every moment that I have with him and creating lovely memories. Dogs are amazing they do so much for people and gives us unconditional love. I'm sure your dog knows how much you love her especially when you have such a stronge bond so cherish it and Make the most of it. But you certainly aren't alone with how you feel.

Greetings Fizz,
Thank-you for your answer, it's nice to know I am not alone. What is your dog's name?

Hi
My dogs name is Archie and I got him just after I went through a difficult breakup so he really was the only one I had by my side so he means the world to me. But I'm certainly afraid of that time and how I'll cope but you just need to spend as much time together and make there life as enjoyable as you can. What's the name of your special dog or should I say best friend..

Hi Penguin and Fizz
She came with me, slept with me and would always bite my shoelaces, that's why I don't wear boots with laces any more.
She was a Jack Russell, Tessie, and it was heartbreaking when I had to put her down, as she had cancer.
I let the vet operate on her but a few weeks later I had to decide, and remember she was still licking me on the vet's table, it was devastating and although I have the one in the picture (Mindy) it still wasn't easy.
Mindy's actually 8 years old and barks when the phone rings, so it's noisy.
When something happens to
Enjoy the time you are having now.
Geoff.

Greetings Geoff,
Thank-you for your message. Your dog, Mindy is very cute. I had another dog, Sam, who passed away last year. Originally, we'd gotten Bella as a friend for him, but they truly acted like siblings. He had bowel cancer, I believe; we were too late to find out. He was a good dog, and had actually detected cancer in my mother, saving her life.
Dogs are wonderful creatures and I will treasure Bella and the time I have with her till her last day.
Regards, Penguin.

I understand exactly what you mean, my dog zeus is also 6, and in good health, i walk him everyday, he is my best friend, and has been there everytime i have had a panic attack, and giving him a hug is one of the only things that can help lower my anxiety.
He sleeps in my bed every night and i really love him. I am also terrified about losing him but have tried to focus on the now, that i have with him.
Dogs are the best, and i know your dog is lucky to have such a loving friend in you.
