Confused

Hi

For about a week and a half I my anxiety and depression has been back. I have started taking antidepressants again for the past week and went from 10mg to 20mg last night.

I’ve been having irrational thoughts where I’m thinking of saying something and then I get this fear inside me that I will say it. I have no idea if this is normal or makes sense. Is this my anxiety?

Also I’m finding that I’m waking up earlier than usual and finding it hard to go back to sleep. I’m usually sick on the morning and I have a fear inside me of getting up and facing the day.

I’m finding it hard to eat and I’ve been eating barely anything and I don’t know what I should try to eat that will help me.

I’m not sure if anyone can shed any light on this. I’m so scared that it won’t go away.

Hi Anxious8888,

I'm really sorry to hear that you've been feeling this way, but I just wanted to give my input into this.
If you're back to using your medication and upped the dosage without talking to a professional, I would propose that you go and talk to a doctor or GP.
If you end up going, it would be a good chance to talk about your lack of appetite and the thoughts inside your head that you are afraid of saying.
If you're scared it won't go away, the only way to help and move forward from the stage your at is to go and seek help.
Sometimes, just talking to a person face to face can help. If you have a trusted friend, family member, adult, or anyone you are comfortable around, maybe talk to them first to hear what they have to say if you're anxious about seeking other types of help.

Know that you're not alone and these thoughts don't define you, I hope you feel better soon ❤️

Hi rosemotion

My doctor told me to up my medication after a week. I’ve read that they’re supposed to help your appetite after 1-2 weeks but I don’t feel any different yet.

My doctor told me to use calming strategies to help me anxiety but I’m not sure what to do. Does anyone know of any?

I guess I’m scared that my medication isn’t going to help me.

Hi rosemotion

I'm sorry that you're feeling so unwell. There are a number of calming strategies you can try, but you kind of need to experiment to see what helps you.

You might find it helpful to:

  • Write in a journal.
  • Practice deep breathing, mindfulness or meditation.
  • Exercise.
  • Take a shower or bath.
  • Draw.
  • Take a walk in nature or visit the beach.
  • Do something to keep your hands busy.
  • Immerse yourself in a movie.
  • Listen to music.
  • Garden.

It really helps to get plenty of rest and eat well too.

Please remember that with the right treatment, most people with anxiety do recover. You are doing really well to have sought help from your GP and commenced medication. Takes a lot of strength. You just hang in there.

Kind thoughts to you
