Hey guys,
This is my 1st time posting on a forum. I'm so stuck and I just don't know how to help myself. I have had GAD for the best part of 9 years managed with therapy and medication. For the last year I have been struggling with a constant brainfog I have been given the all clear by my doctor yet it just doesn't feel right. I can't focus or concentrate, I can't read a book and memorise it. I find it hard to get my words out or even find them in the 1st place Im spaced out and feel cloudy my anxiety has latched on to this so hard. I also struggle with health based anxiety, I feel low in mood and I think I might be a bit depressed. I haven't been on medication for the last 5 months but I'm thinking of going back on. This brain fog is very constant and I just don't know what else to do. I had my bloods, thyroid, Mri, inflam markers. and they all came back fine 🤷♀️ Any tips or advice would be much appreciated. I just want to be my best self for my kids and for me.

Hi El1990,
Wellcome to our forums!
Im sorry you are feeling this way.
I understand anxiety I had severe anxiety OCD and have now recovered from it thanks to the professional help I received.
When I had severe anxiety I experienced many symptoms, I was put on a antidepressant to help me to manage my anxiety and I also did therapy.
I also experienced health anxiety with my OCD.
I did metacognitive therapy this therapy changed my life.
Where you managing better when you were on medication?
Maybe go back to your gp and discuss your anxiety and how it’s affecting your life.

Hello Eli, welcome to the site.
If you are suffering from brain fog then trying to explain to your doctor what's actually happening can't be done, simply because you can't focus properly, you may become confused or display a numb feeling, so your doctor may believe that you are ok, contrary to how you feel.
I can't tell you what to do but suggest you once again start the medication, but there can be a problem, although I'm not a doctor to qualify this, however, once a person begins to feel ok, they decide to stop taking their medication believing they don't need it any more, but down the track, something sparks a reaction they weren't expecting and back they may fall.
With myself, I've been taking AD's for over 20 years and have no intention of stopping them.
Take care.
Geoff.
