Anyone have any tips for me? I'm feeling overwhelmed

Hi Guys
Lately I just have been feeling very overwhelmed and stressed with uni. I feel like I am just so behind and that I can't catch up on work. Assignments are also piling up so much that I don't even want to look at them. When I do I feel like I am going to have a panic attack. I have got extensions on some but honestly, I don't feel much better.
I just feel this heavy weight in my chest and this feeling of dread. Which is surprising because previously I had been doing very well. Lately I just feel like I can't dig myself out of this hole and feel happiness.
Does anyone have any suggestions for me?
Thanks

Hi there,
Sounds like you have a lot going on right now! Uni can be very stressful at times and I too, often found myself really overwhelmed by it. What I found that worked best for me was to just break down exactly what you need to do and order it ranked on importance/deadline. Look ahead at what your days and weeks are like with commitments and then assign time to each specific task that you need to complete. Write it all down so you can see it clearly. Breaking it down in to smaller tasks gives you a feeling of accomplishment as you start to tick them off.
I really struggled at uni with anxiety around exam time and worrying about not getting through everything and not passing so I can definitely empathize with you. But you will get through this.
Is there someone that you can talk it through with? I found if I could talk to someone and discuss with them what I needed to get done it helped me see it as achievable.
Something important is to reward yourself when you tick off a task. Go see a movie or catch up with a friend. It will make you more eager to stay on track and will stop you from burning yourself out.
Just be kind to yourself!
I hope this can help in some small way.
Is there anything else happening that could be contributing to your stress?

Hi,
You are not alone!
I am a first year uni student myself (mature age) and I too am quite stressed at the moment.
Everyone who I speak to about it, tells me that this is normal. Everyone gets overwhelmed and finds it hard to fit everything in apparently. They tell me that you never feel 100% on top of everything and that you just do your best and get through it one tasks/ assessment/ exam at a time.
Last week I brought a desk planner for myself. This has helped me alot and maybe you could try also. I plan out my whole week on Sunday evenings. I set realistic goals for each day but I try to be flexible as well.
I have all of my exams and assignment due dates put into a calendar where I can see it each day. Soon I will have to prioritise my study for exams and catch up on other subjects later. Maybe this could help also.
Let us know how you go!
