Hi Missandrea
Welcome to the forums...and good on you for posting too!
I understand where you are coming from with our thoughts 'talking' to us...I used to have chronic anxiety for a long time and its a bad place to be in..
So we can provide you with more effective support can you elaborate on your symptoms? (if you wish to)
we are here and listening
Paul

I get this - its brutal.
Then my OCD will obsess over it.
I put these in the same basket as intrusive thoughts. I try to treat them the same as intrusive thoughts - acknowledge that they're there and let them go (easier said then done).
by dwelling on them, your essentially powering them up. If you acknowledge that they exist, label them as unhelpful and let them go they will eventually quiet down! - still working on this myself.
I hope this helps!

Hi Missandrea
Wondering if all the conversations are those of self doubt or there's some kind of internal battle going on. You know that battle between courage and fear. To be in 2 minds can be a torturous experience yet it serves a purpose. No, it's not to lead us to the brink of insanity by the way 🙂 It just feels like it.
Look forward to hearing from you.
Take care

I have diagnosed anxiety and depression and am on medication for it.
lately tho, those nagging voices in my head have been getting stronger and stronger and I can’t seem to shake them.
the voices are telling me I have done things and said things that I know I haven’t, but I’m starting to believe them at the same time as telling myself I’m being silly and it couldn’t possibly be true.
does anyone else suffer from the voices in this way?

I have something similar.
For me, I visualise my anxiety as a woman shouting directly into my ears. It sounds ridiculous, maybe, but that is how intrusive and hard to ignore my thoughts are. For me, I have terrible health anxiety, so the ‘voice’ in my head (when it’s really bad) is like a constant stream of shouting, telling me over and over again I have something fatal.
My psychologist told me that I let my anxiety run wild and need to challenge those thoughts. I try lots of different mindfulness techniques, try to remind myself the thoughts are just my anxiety and not true..and sometimes I visualise putting ear plugs in so I can’t hear the intrusive thoughts....whatever works.
I hope this helps (and doesn’t make me sound crazy)....Start small and try to challenge those thoughts in at least one way, once a day. Be kind to yourself.

Hi Missandrea,
I understand the anxiety voices in our head..... I once had severe anxiety OCD....
Have you seen your gp in regards to your anxiety?
Meditation is great for learning to watch your thoughts and not get caught up in them .......
mindfullness is also great and attention training...
just try to let your thoughts be there and float away..... try not to put your attention on them.... what we give attention to we give power to.....
😊

Hello Displa, it's always sad to hear stories like what you have told us, if I can ask you to type 'intrusive thoughts' in the search bar above or even in your browser and read some of the comments made by many people.
Best wishes.
Geoff.

Hi amalee78
I have to say that is an absolutely brilliant strategy, to imagine the voice as being external. I suppose it could be compared to that long held example of having an 'angel' on one shoulder and a so called 'devil' on the other. Kinda of like taking the internal battle between 2 minds and making it more external. Could be an interesting practice to take it further and try channeling what the 'angel' is saying:
On one side, 'You've done all these terrible things. You're a horrible person'
On the other, 'Don't believe everything you hear. Not every thought is to be trusted as being the truth. Always search for the truth'
Again, brilliant strategy amalee78. Thank you for sharing your light.
