Hi there nlpreece

Welcome to Beyond Blue and thank you for providing your post.

Bed is so often our sanctuary – and sleep is for the most part even better;  except of course if bad dreams interrupt us.  But sleep allows us to escape our minds for a while, but as we know, it’s only a temporary measure.

Out of interest, do you feel as though you get adequate amounts of sleep?

And for your wake up time, your panic state – is that related to anything that you may think of?    Perhaps getting kids ready for school, or your own study, or perhaps work?

I guess just one last question before I send this off to you – so during the day and as it goes by, it sounds like you feel much better within yourself, which if that’s the case, that IS awesome to hear.  Which I guess is why I’d be interested to learn what might be the triggers for you first thing of a morning?

Kind regards and hope to hear from you again

Neil

Hello, I don't have the answers you are looking for as I too have seem to experience the same. I have never understood it and always felt that I was the only one. I was always branded as a "grumpy" morning person, and it wasn't until recently that I have started to even realise that anxiety could be the problem. It's not just mornings for me but mornings are definately the worst. Although I cannot help you find the answers I just wanted to let you know that you are not alone.

Hi Nlpreece, I can't tell you why but i'm the same. It seems to get better as the day goes on.

Hi there,

Many people actually find their anxiety is worse at night; this was the case for me several years ago. It's great that you are getting to sleep alright at night. Perhaps you are overwhelmed by what each new day brings: the responsibilities, tasks, chores, social interactions, and so on. You could try waking up a little earlier so that you have plenty of time to get yourself organised before work or other commitments. Being frantic in the morning really doesn't help anxiety. Believe me, this was my weakness!

I'm glad your anxiety improves as the day progresses. Have you been formally diagnosed with anxiety by your doctor? It's worth making an appointment with your GP to discuss this severe morning anxiety, so that you can learn coping strategies.

Best wishes,

SM
