Thank you so much for your wonderful responses.

And yes, it’s odd for me with dates and the like, as I do remember them, but generally there’s no difference to me in how I feel, as I constantly miss them and am very very sad by this.

I think it was more the fact that yesterday was the 14th and it was Tuesday and those were the two exact same things that co-incided back six months ago.

But great responses and I thank you all once again.

Neil

Ok, so I was wrong.

I was posting to another member the other day (it could well have been Alan) and saying that my Mum sadly left this world on 14th October 2014 and that next week (ie: today) will be 6 months to the exact day. I said that I would be no sadder on that day than I've been already.

But I was wrong.

I'm down, well I have been for a fair while now, but I'm down and it feels like the black dog has got hob-nailed boots on all four paws and he's booting me.

It'll pass I guess, but at the moment, things ain't good.

I try and focus on the good times, but for me, that doesn't work just yet. Way too early.

Hi Neil,

You might recall some time ago I mentioned the irrelevance of anniversaries. Dates are made up by humans. It is basically, where the earth is. The earth is half way around the sun since your beautiful mum passed. That's it, nothing more different than yesterday.

Even one year, the earth will be in a similar location than when she did pass. My dad passed in 1992. For the above reason I never recall what day he went. My still grieving times are - when I recall him. Might be when gardening (he was a good gardener), or when he helped old people or when he laughed.

But these positive past recollections didnt come for a few years after he left us. This initial period of the passing of someone you've loved dearly will still be filled with grief and hurt.

THE DAY YOU'LL SMILE

The passing of the warmest heart

in life- gave me my greatest start

my grief seems to go on and on

her life story to ponder on

And one sunny day will come

where I'll think of my dearest mum

and instead of grief a wry smile will occur

as I feel her love and remember her....

dear Neil, my friend, I'm sorry Neil, you may have posted this after I logged off yesterday, that is immaterial, the fact is it's a time in your life that reminisces the tragic passing of your dear Mum who you treasured and adored so much, that these many memories will be with you for such a long time.

There will be so many occasions as you walk down the street or as you happen to pass by, that will remind you so much of your Mum that will jolt your heart and cause you to feel her loss, that's well and truly understandable and you have every right to feel this pain and to take the time to mourn that you can never see her again.

You know my heart goes out to you in every way, so you need time to heal and there is no limit on this. Geoff.
