Dear MumofTrans~

It's been a couple of weeks since I talked with you and I was wondering if you had received any helpful advice as yet or gotten closer to your offspring. You obviosly love your child a lot and it must be heart breaking to see a gap widen between the two of you

Croix

Hi all, first time on this site.

I am after some help or information if anyone else has the same experience to help me navigate with my 19 yo transgender daughter.

We have had a few years of adjusting and coming to terms with this, unfortunately my husband could not support our daughter and this along with other reasons has resulted in our separation.

It is only after this time where she has been free to transition unencumbered that she has changed.

She seems to be a completely different person, and seems false.

They are also saying they are pansexual and polyamourous, which makes my head spin for the complexity of their life.

I am confused and I want to see if anyone else has had anything similar and how you navigated it. Thanks in advance

Dear New Member~

I'd like to give you a warm welcome here at the Forum, a place where if you search for other people in similar circumstances you may find how they coped (use the spyglass above and try searching for transgender for a start). While most are by the people themselves there are some there from parents too.

It is a great pity your ex could not love his child unconditionally and he must have had quite a negative influence when he was there, as can be seen by your offspring's sense of freedom and confidence now.

Very difficult for you trying to balance both persons, and maybe a relief (tinged with loss and sadness maybe) now he has gone.

As your child is now an adult I'm afraid the time for giving advice, unless asked for, has passed and the best you can do is just love and hope. Even important matters discussed unasked for may have the effect of driving your child further away.

I would suggest you go the the website QLIFE and see the information there and talk to a councilor to find out all you can. They are experts and very helpful, which probably means a long wait on the phone, but worth it.

If you would like to talk some more here please know you will be very welcome

Croix
