Hi bluesky95,

Sometimes people who have described this sensation are having some struggles in their life - such as depression. Often, when the mind cannot cope with what's happening (such as stress) it kind of shuts off as a coping mechanism. So even though you might usually enjoy shopping, people may find that their mind is so preoccupied with other things it can't be present.

Do you think this is the case with you?

If it is, that's okay - you're not alone and there are lots of ways to find help and feel less like a blank fuzzy space. This might be about practicing mindfulness or meditation, or it might be about going to talk to someone like a therapist or a GP.

There's another post which might be helpful to:

Feel free to let me know if I'm totally off track and I'll try and help more.

Take care,

Hi there Bluesky95!

It sounds like you're having a pretty rough time...

Have you considered seeing a counsellor? Maybe try talking to your family or a close friend. It sounds like to me you are experiencing symptoms of early depression however I am certainly not a doctor! I just know from personal experience that feeling emotionless or empty whilst doing a lot of things and knowing you're lucky to have the life you do is what I first felt before I knew it was depression.

There are a lot of helpful things on the beyondblue website filled with information and things like that that you can look into.

As I said it might not be depression at all, but atleast go to a GP or someone that is a professional that can help you!

~ Taylor
