So I saw a doctor about these negative emotions, thankfully I was not diagnosed with anything, but I still feel like rubbish.

For those whose read my previous posts, you would have heard that I love acting and was part of a community play, I want to quit it. I'm constantly making mistakes and getting either yelled at or getting blame put on me that makes feel bad. The play is a lot of work and I find that I'm stressed the entire time I'm there. I can't take it.

The situation at school is even worse, I refuse to be me. The old me would love contributing to class discussions and trying to make the best impression. The new me just sits in the corner, writes or types the work on his laptop and says nothing. I just want to hide myself from everyone, I just don't feel accepted. I just have no idea where I belong, what I was meant to do or anything. I find myself shaking waiting for the day to be over. I feel like I could stop going to school and no one would even noticed I went away.

I really don't like myself at the moment, no self-respect and no love for myself. I feel like I'm doing something wrong all the time. My mistakes anger people to where I feel like they hate me for them. I'm just lost all over again, I felt like I was finally gathering the pieces of the puzzle only to scatter them all over the floor....again. I just don't know when I'll accept myself.

I'm just sad and confused.

Hi Liam,

Forgive my memory, I know I have contributed in your previous posts, are you currently seeing a Psychologist or Counsellor?

Did the Dr your saw at least recommend this?

You don't need to have a mental illness in order to see a Psychologist or a Counsellor, so I'm hoping this might be the next step for you. If not, can I recommend you go back to your Dr and get a referral.

A Psychologist/Counsellor will be able to help you work through why you feel the way you do and will help you come up with some strategies to manage these negative thoughts a lot better.

Hi AGrace,

I've been put on a waiting list to see a Psychologist/ Counselor. It's all unfortunately a waiting game at the moment. He did give me a referral

Thanks, Liam C

Hi Liam C

Loving yourself is a long process if you are at the beginning of it. But some people think they should love themselves when they change to being "like everyone else". That is wrong. You need to love yourself for you, for you are unique, there is no other Liam in the world like YOU.

What you described in this post is exactly how I feel in clubs or groups. I struggle to keep up appearances, to blend in...then the struggle becomes a burden and I withdraw. Pity no one is around to withdraw with me so we can share the same feeling. We are loners, we arent "one of them".

Eventually Liam I hope and believe you will embrace this person whom you think is abnormal for being what he is. Just different. You one day will not need to justify your behaviour.

Bare in mind finally, that many highly intelligent people of world history were the same. Painters, mathematicians, poets, scientists etc didnt fit into the 'norm'.

You are discovering yourself Liam. You dont like what you feel and see. Look upon this period of discovery as a journey of excitement, because you are likely heading to a very interesting place. That place is Liam the person and it is a place only you can belong.

Besides, who wants to be normal anyway?
