Feeling as you have been for so long you realized you need assistance - and while parents can be very loving and do their best it does not mean they are as effective as a trained person might be - and you do deserve a better life.

I suggest texting to them and leaving it for a while -maybe go for a walk , asking them to text back rather than talk is a really good way of communicating, a lot less pressure on both of you in many ways.

If you would like to talk more and say how you went that would be great

Croix

So I’ve been really tired and upset lately (for like a year) and it’s getting worse and I want to tell my parents but struggle to verbally communicate about these things especially with my parents. They are really supportive and loving but sometimes I’d just rather not talk about it because sometimes my mum brushes it off saying it’s hormones or natural teen moods and my dad gets angry or annoyed sometimes. I find it really hard to bring attention to myself and about my problems but I feel like I’m getting worse and should probably tell someone.

I tried once to tell them but ended in tears (my own fault,) and unable to talk, then I shut off for a week.

Hi,

Welcome to the forums and thank you for reaching out to us.

I'm sorry to hear how you have been feeling, I know it's not easy to open up sometimes but I am really glad you found your way here.

I wonder if you could just talk with your mum first - find a quiet time and say you want to talk about something important, ask her to really listen because you are struggling and feel it is getting worse. It would also be a good idea to say that you want to go to see your GP about how you are feeling. If your GP feels that you need some help, he can set up a mental health care plan for you.

Have you talked with your school counsellor about this? I am just thinking if you feel uncomfortable talking with your parents, then perhaps your school counsellor could speak with them on your behalf.

There is also a very good helpline that you can call any time you feel the need, they are very helpful and you will be in good hands with them. There may be a bit of a wait to speak to someone but please don't let that put you off, it is important that you start talking to someone. Please put the number into your phone so you can call when you feel the need.

Kids Helpline – available 24/7 – up to 25 years of age – 1800 55 1800

You can also talk to us at any time, you will always be welcome here, just add to this thread whenever you wish and we will be here to support you.

I hope this helps and please take good care of yourself.

Thinking of you with care,

indigo 💜
