Dan

I too welcome you to the forum. White Rose has shown how supportive and helpful people are and I won't repeat her suggestions.

People often say school days are the best days of your life but when I was at school I too flet isolated and spent my lunchtimes in the library as I had no one to talk to or the toilets on the day the library was closed.

I did not feel people hated me, I felt they ignored me and I did not fit in.

I agree with White Rose it would be nice to learn more about you.

The funny thing is when I went to a school reunion which I didn't want to go to, I found even the students I felt were popular and always seemed happy and had lots of friends, they told me how they often felt unhappy at school . It can be a difficult time and you may find if you talk to other people they may feel the same.

It would be good to learn more about you and what happens at school, so feel free to post if you want.

Thanks again for sharing your story.

Hello Forums! I am having trouble at school. I feel isolated at school because I feel like everyone hates me. Sometimes I just think, "Kill me, please." all the time. I really want to move schools but my parents think that will impact my education. As if my education isn't already being impacted. I have seen counsellors and teachers, but I don't know what to do. Sometimes I just want to fall asleep and not wake up or just have a different life. It would mean a lot to me if someone helped me.

Hello Dan

Welcome to the forum. So pleased you are able to write in here and talk about what troubles you.

I see you have already talked to your teachers and also a counsellor. Is the counsellor part of your school or a separate counselling practice? May I ask what these people have suggested for you to do or given you any indication where the problem lies? It's often helpful to give a name and shape to our problems.

I am concerned about your wish for self harm. Do you feel safe or do you feel at risk? I would suggest a visit to your GP but maybe you have already done this. Do your parents know of you wish?

I am a little curious about your statement, I feel isolated at school because I feel like everyone hates me. Do you know know why everyone hates you? I know that it is sometimes more a feeling than any specific event(s) and is hard to describe. I see you feel isolated and that is not a good place to be. May I ask how you think this would be different if you changed schools. The reality is in any situation there are people we like/dislike/don't care/not interested. When we have a low self esteem it is easy to attribute feelings of dislike towards you from others. If one person dislikes you, and I sure there are those who dislike me and others, it's easy to think everyone else has the same opinion.

This is not usually the case but it is hard to separate the good guys from the others. Have there been any other students you have formed a friendship with in the past? If so, what has happened? I feel I am doing nothing except ask questions but you have not written much about yourself. Could you tell us a little about what goes on at school please.

I do have another suggestion. The Kids Helpline is available 24/7 for young people aged 5-25. Their web address is https://kidshelpline.com.au/ and the 24/7 phone number is 1800 55 1800. I know many young people find them helpful, particularly as it such a special area. This does not mean you should stop posting here. It's simply another avenue of support for you to use.

Mary
