Hey <G class="gr_ gr_5 gr-alert gr_spell gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim ContextualSpelling ins-del multiReplace" id="5" data-gr-id="5">unigirl</G>,

Please don't let others get you down if you let them control the way you think about yourself life can get pretty unhappy. Be positive with your thoughts and take care of yourself first.

I feel as even though majority of your focus may be on your job, it is also healthy to find something you like outside of the house to do for like 30 minutes a day, to help refresh the mind, whether that's going for a walk, for a swim, having lunch with friend etc. Emotionally and spiritually this usually helps benefit your mind.

I understand finding a job is difficult as I too find it difficult. I gained help from the people around me, from best friends to my friends extended family. All the close people around you are there to help you, post on facebook that you're looking for a job, let it be known in any way possible. Also, allow and/or ask those around you to read your CV and cover letter, help you make it better, you've got nothing to lose.

Hope this was helpful! x

Hi all, It's been about 2 years since I posted. Since then I've just been at the same job, but now in a management role. A bullying incident ultimately led me to go off work due to anxiety/depression. I haven't worked since July 2017, and am looking for more jobs every day. But I'm feeling really down today - I apply for around 10 or so jobs every week. I have an interview for one finally, but its $10 less then my current and a traineeship for 12 months, with half the hours I currently work. Feeling conflicted because I desperately want to resign and work again, but part of me doesn't want to settle for a job for half the wage I'm on now considering I live out of home and don't want my partner to have to support me financially. He is happy to do so as he has a great job but part of me wants to stay free for a possible government job that I'm waiting to hear back on in the next 4 weeks. I'm totally anxious and down tonight, with no one to talk to. I don't know what I'm doing with my life, I feel like I'm never going to find another decent job that pays well or isn't fast food, considering this is the only interview/interest I've been given since January 2017 😞 Feeling like I'll never be good enough to work anywhere else, as I've only had the one fast food job and that's it. Sorry for the rant, just need to vent.

Hi unigirl welcome back, don't be sorry for venting thats what here's all about ☺

Sorry to hear about the bullying, it's so wrong to hurt people like that. I'll never understand how people just don't give a toss about others

Hun you're certainly putting in the hard yards to get employment & I'd hope with that consistent effort & determination something you want would come up. I'm inclined to suggest go with your gut feeling, if this one doesn't feel right will you be happy & for less $ & hrs

Beautiful bf ok to support you which if you choose not to go this other would take pressure off

Not a bad work environment to have experience in, there's always a demand for fast food, I did few yrs in same

If you wait good luck with government job

All best with everything ☺

hello <G class="gr_ gr_12 gr-alert gr_spell gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim ContextualSpelling ins-del multiReplace" id="12" data-gr-id="12">unigirl</G>, welcome to the site.

I'm sorry for the way you are feeling and bullying is always serious, cause it's kept you off work since July and isn't making you feel well with anxiety and depression and doesn't want you to return back to this particular job.

Firstly I'm going to worry about you moving home to live with your parents after you have been living with your partner, but you have to do what suits you, <G class="gr_ gr_20 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim Punctuation only-ins replaceWithoutSep" id="20" data-gr-id="20">however</G> you might know about this government job much earlier and if it is what I think it is then let's keep our fingers crossed.

Another alternative is contacting restaurants, although this will be day and night shifts, <G class="gr_ gr_16 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim Grammar replaceWithoutSep" id="16" data-gr-id="16">but</G> I'm hoping you will be contacted by this government job.

Have you been in touch with your doctor regarding your anxiety and depression because this is something you should be doing, and please let us <G class="gr_ gr_18 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim Punctuation multiReplace" id="18" data-gr-id="18">know.</G> Geoff.

Hi all, thanks for the replies. I had my interview today which I think went well but I am trying to feel positive about the gov job so I don't think I'll accept the traineeship if offered. I spend at least 30 minutes a day if not more outside with my dog, and am trying to spend more time at the gym (30kg weight gain due to depression). I'm not in a position where I need to move back home due to my partner earning a large amount of money and being able to help support us. My self esteem has been gone for a long time and I've about given up on future job prospects because of it. I have spoken to my GP as of september 2016 and am on the highest dose of my current medication as he is allowed to prescribe. Just feeling down, bored, useless and not good enough for another job. But maybe I'll hear back from the gov job in the next 6 weeks, just need to find something to keep me occupied until then.

Sounds good that interview went well, help with self esteem.

Really hope the government job comes through

Thx keeping us in the loop. Best of luck, fingers crossed.

hi unigirl and welcome back 🙂

im sorry you were bullied!, thats not right at all and i hope that things are sorted now. by the sounds of it youve left that environment which is good.

job searching is hard these days! unless your still in school (ie yr 10) and they can pay you minimum wages and most often younger people want and can work on weekends so they are 'better' to employ. makes it harder for older people and those out of school to be able to find work.

i hope your interview goes well and that you get the job, and if not i hope something comes around until then

you said you need something to do until then- have you thought of doing some work experience or volunteer work in your field of interest? it might help you out on your resume...

if not do you have any hobbies or something you can do when your not job searching or at interviews?
