topic Moving school? in Young people

hello Cluire, I know how you feel because I went to an all boys school, sure it was a private school and expensive for my Dad to pay for, however there was no way I would send my two sons to an all kids school, because no matter how much training and experience I achieved, there were so many social issues it caused.
In hindsight I would have changed without blinking my eyes and would have gone into a co-ed school, and now this school has changed their ideas and are now co-ed, because now I think they have eventually woken up and realised that kids can't go to a school where all the same sex go to, it's not reasonable and certainly doesn't happen in the world we live in, we need a friend of either sex to confind in, and I'm presuming .
Whether you go to an 'all the same sex school' or whether it's it's co-ed, there will be problems, it happens to everyone, but the positive point is that you can attach yourself to someone else, that happens when you move on and gradute, and I am saying this because you have found a hidden determination, and to me if you can change to a co-ed would suit you beter than where are presently going.
If I was ever asked that's what I would jump at, the opportunity to mix with both girls and boys, it opens up your life in so many other avenues. Geoff.

Moving school?

I'm tired of going to an all girls school. Almost nobody cares about education - only about their phones and trendy things. Many of the girls skip school, do drugs and alcohol. I don't feel like I belong.

The place dirty, smelly and there are plenty of dead animals everywhere.

The thought of going to school gives me anxiety.

I have a few friends, but I sit lunchtimes alone because I feel lost and alone due to the fact its such a big place..

My mother won't let me transfer because "you have worked hard to go here. Moving schools won't change anything and boys will be worse !!!"

I can't stay focused, because I feel attacked and stared down by the other girls for "not being feminine". I feel like going to a co educational school will help me become more social by not being forced down to gender roles.

I have spoken to teachers about this, and some of them support my idea.

Please give me some advice, I'm not sure if changing schools will be a bad idea.

Thank you, have a good day! ❤️

Hi Cluire

I've been to both co-ed and single gender schools; American school system in the 70's. I'll admit that some of the issues associated with one where not present in the other, but they were always replaced with a new form of bullying and prejudice. The grass make look greener on the other side, but it's also much more bitter.

Boys teasing boys about their sexuality was rampant in the single gender school, but it was worse in the co-ed's as both genders would tease. One of my (female) friends, who loved to kiss other girls, was bullied out of her private school into the public co-ed system, only to find that both boys and girls were prejudicial against her for it. (We didn't have any anti discrimination laws back then; except for race)

If you can manage to avoid sex, drugs and alcohol whilst you are in school, more often than not, when you become an adult you will be respected for it.

Hope this helps

Cluire

I went to an all girls school back , well a long time ago!

I did find hard because I felt I was depressed and didn't fit in but before we had our reunion a few years ago, people emailed me and said what a good friend I had been. My own memories were ones of isolation and feeling I didn't fit in.

All schools have cliques . If you did move and you found you were just as unhappy how would you feel then? A move may help you but make sure it is not just the thought of the change. There are snobby bossy girls at co-ed schools as well .

I wonder how long you have been at your all girl's school.

Take care
