hello Willwoods, it's an awful feeling and I'm so sorry that you feel this way, what I have picked up is that maybe you're home-sick, you're missing your coach who you feel the safest around, so are you able to contact him/her on skype and if so then that will get you through another couple of days.
I'm 22 years old and currently live in America on a full golf scholarship. About 2 weeks before flying home for holidays I started to feel heavy in the chest and all I wanted to do was lie down- I thought that maybe it was just because I was anxious and excited to come home and was hoping when I arrived home it would all pass. The first week I was fine but something weird clicked and at least 6 times a day I was having little panic attacks feeling like I couldn't breathe and even was checking my pulse to make sure I was ok. Slowly getting worse where I'm too scared to do anyhing and just want to lay in bed. The last 2 days it has been the worse where I have had a terrible headache and feels like my body just isn't my body. Feels like the world is running without me and I'm not fully "conscious" it's starting to scare me and really frustrate me. I think it's been the worst the last 2 days because I am away from my coach who I feel the most safe around for Christmas time. I just want to be by myself in a room and sleep because it's frustrating and I am tending to lash out on people because I'm I upset. I just want to get back to feeling normal and my self again because I get so scared how this is happening. Please can someone help me- I am going to go and see a psychologists during the week to get some help.

Have you seen a Doctor to rule out any physical causes for what is happening? If not you should do so. A Doctor can also prescribe medication that may be of help regardless of whether there is a physical or psychological basis to what you are experiencing. A psychologist is not qualified to exclude any physical causes for what is occuring and would be useful to see if a doctor determines that your health is OK. You seem to be experiencing anxiety but to determine what is going on it is necessary to rule other things out. So I suggest you see a Doctor as soon as you can and take it from there. Philip

Hi Willwoods,

Firstly, welcome to the forums.

I can see how you were be anxious, you're only 22, living in another country away from family. It wouldn't be easy at all so well done on that achievement.

I'm glad that you are seeing a psychologist cause i think that will help immensly and like Geoff said above, you do sound home sick and your coach almost seems to be the link between you feeling at home in another country if that makes sense.

Let us know how the psychologists go.

My best for you,

Jay
