Hi Puppies, the best place to start would still be by looking through threads in the Supporting family and friends with a mental health condition (carers) section, where we have moved this thread to. You are not alone, there are lots of discussions happening here with some great tips.

We would also suggest continuing to update your original thread on this topic, as it helps keep the community up to date with your story by keeping to one thread per issue.

Hi,

I'm interested in connecting with some people who are supporting a partner with depression or anxiety (or other mental illness). My partner has both and I am finding it increasingly difficult when dealing with the moods that come with depression. I am often shut out, and it leaves me feeling anxious. I deal with my own form of anxiety and it can often 'bring it on' when my partner doesn't want to talk. The big issue though is that we have been doing long distance for over 2 and a half years, and communicating over messages (unfortunately) is what keeps us connected a lot of the time.

Thanks for reading. I hope there's someone who has a similar issue.

Puppies. the only way we can help your partner with his problems is if he expresses them. We do it anonymously here on BB. We aren't allowed personal contact with each other, except by chance. Kanga
