Hi Cherry_Blossom_Falls. I too have a problem with narcissism, my mother-in-law. Your father probably doesn't hate you, as such. Narcissistic people don't actually 'hate' anyone. They don't know how to be nice, but in the process, they drive everyone away. You may find, with your dad, if you ask someone (a relative, if possible), he may have had a problem with a narcissistic family member. My mum was also narcissistic, she's passed now. Unfortunately, with your dad, you may have to make a decision about how often you see him. If his attitude upsets you (as my mother in-law) did me, maybe the odd phone call. How old is your dad? I have no contact at all with my MIL, my husband sees her (and bleats). Your dad unfortunately, will never admit to being this way, they don't. Bottom line, unfortunately, minimal contact, or just accept.

Good luck whichever way you go.

BB is good for 'venting'.

Regards Pipsy.

After a life of torment and wondering what I did so wrong to cause my father to despise me and my siblings - I finally get a answer at 29! My brother called me a couple of weeks ago and told me my father had been diagnosed by a psych with NPD. This has been a life changing event for me and I just wanted to hear from anyone else who was raised by a parent with NPD. Any memories or insights anyone wanted to share? Thanks everyone 🙂
