I'm sorry you find yourself in this position as I suspect you love your kids a lot.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I can't give you a cut and dried answer to your question. I would suspect (though I might be completely wrong) it depends upon two things, the first being the welfare of the children, if they are safe, in&amp;nbsp; a stable environment, are well loved, have enough to eat, clothed, go to school if that is appropriate and are not exposed to harmful influences.&amp;nbsp; Their own views may be sought too.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;There are obviously more factors than that, but it might give you a starting place.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;The second is your condition, ability to look after them and if you are taking steps that can be seen to improve your own condition.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I would suggest you may need an advocate, and I'd not be sure what would be appropriate. If the &lt;A href="https://www.wlsa.org.au/" target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow noreferrer"&gt;Women's Legal Services&lt;/A&gt; have an office near you they may be a good resource, other than that I'd suggest a chat with &lt;A href="https://www.beyondblue.org.au/get-support/get-immediate-support" target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow noreferrer"&gt;our own 24/7 free councilors&lt;/A&gt;.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Croix&lt;/P&gt;</description>
