Hello.

I hear how painful and frustrating this situation is. Watching your son go through a separation and missing your grandchild is heartbreaking. It is completely understandable you feel angry and concerned.

In highly emotional separations, it is easy to label the other person a narcissist. Focusing on labels can sometimes keep us stuck in anger rather than moving forward. ADVOs and family separations usually involve complex dynamics. It may be helpful to step back and look at the broader picture, including how your son might need to reflect on his own responses or role in the conflict to deescalate the situation.

If you need a space to talk through this, some services can help navigate family mediation and manage the emotional toll.

• Family Relationship Advice Line, 1800 050 321
• Relationships Australia, 1300 364 277
• Beyond Blue Support Service, 1300 22 4636

Please take care of yourself during this stressful time and reach out again if you need a listening ear.

Our Adult son separated last year straight away she served ADVO for absolutely no reason, she instigated the separation, leaving behind his daughter 5yrs and 2 of her children from a previous relationship who he adores …. She is a text book Narcissist and so very revengeful and is using the little girl as a pawn. As a grandparent is there any thing I can do…. I’m so angry I’m actually concerned…..
