My husband will hurt me and my kids

I have started feeling my husband is going to tongue me and my kids , he has taken all the financials in his hands and I don’t have any control so I have to keep asking for money and then arguments starts and he starts blaming me , I am earning money which he used to take earlier but I changed my account and do that has stopped but he just wants to control everything and so he uses aggression . I have to just work according to him and things are ok , even a slight disagreement he gets triggered . I have been in this marriage for 21 years now but it’s getting very difficult to stay anymore . He also has frightened me and said he will take my or back and lot of other things . I don’t think I can cope up any more with him . Whenever I am alone at home I am just worried that he will hit me as he has done once . I don’t know what can as I thought once I will walk out of house with the kids but then where do we go and everything goes for a toss my job , kids school and uni what do I do . Please suggest

I dont know how I can help much, i'm only very young. Have you tried the police? Or perhaps the child that goes to uni could call them, and tell them to servay your house?

Hello Sheetu.

It would be really helpful to you if you would gain support about what is going on at home.

In every state in Aus there are hotlines that are experienced in your particular issues. I believe you are describing " Financial abuse " Google Financial abuse hotline in your state and call them.

This is the appropriate 1 st step to talk to people who are experienced in this.

DO NOT leave any clues or writings where your husband may find it.

I am so sorry this is happening to you….so much I read from your post I have gone through…I stayed in my abusive marriage for 38 years…my husband has now passed away, I would probably still be in that marriage if he was still living….and my children had to witness, everything that happened…and unfortunately was a part of the abuse as well…the guilt I feel for putting them through that has never left me…The effect it’s had on them was not good and they struggled a lot with there mental health…as well as I have been struggling so much because constant abuse, whether physical, mental and/or emotional can have a long lasting effect on how we look at ourselves…The reason I stayed was out of fear from the consequences that might follow….

Ask yourself sweet lady, if this is the life you want to live for the rest of your life, do you want your children to be in that environment?….No one can decide what you should do, except for yourself….

There are many women refuges out there, maybe google one in your area that can help you, if you want….also 1800 RESPECT…(1800737732) are their to help you also….our Beyond Blue help line can help put you on the right path for getting help…(1300 224 636)…you don’t have to do this alone…Im very gently urging you to please contact one of those help lines I’ve suggested to you…Please remember physical abuse and Dv is a criminal offence and you can press charges…

The help available can depend on the state you’re in. If you’re in Victoria, you can reach out to The Orange Door. In New South Wales, Link2Home or the Domestic Violence Line could help. In Queensland, DVConnect is another option. Talking with a community social worker is also an option, because they can help you figure out the next steps and what services you can access.

I hope this helps you find someone you feel safe talking to. You don’t have to face this alone, and there are people ready to support you.

Thanks for the reply , I have thought a lot on this topic and I have decided to walk out of this marriage for sure earlier I used to think I should stay for the kids but now I feel I should walk out for the kids as they need there mum alive . This traumatic marriage is already giving me health issues so now I just can’t handle it anyways . It’s sad that you suffered for 38 years and I always feel this while we women give so much time to others while deep inside we know that nothing is going to change .

I hope your safe and doing okay sweetheart…

I stayed befor or my children and because I didn’t have any courage to leave him…I kept thinking he would change, I learned the hard way that people just can’t who they are for anyone…They are who they are and will remain that way….

I am so proud of your bravery and courage in deciding that you want to leave him….ViolettaZ has given you some great support services that you can reach out to for help and support, back in my time, there was no support services available that I knew off….I wash brainwashed by my husband and before that by my parents into believing that husbands/partners are more important then our children…I had grown up that way, an unwanted daughter….I was stupid to believe that, (I know that now)…you know as I reflect back on that time of my life, like I am now, I still feel stupid and very unworthy of having my children…

Sorry I went of course a bit…Keep us updated if you feel to on how your doing and please stay safe…
