Hello MissT

There are many people that have both ECT and meds and have recovered well

I have been on SSRI's for 22 years and (with counseling) have given me my personal life.....my career and my peace of mind back. I used to be anti meds because I was ignorant and thought they were unnecessary until my anxiety & depression exacerbated

There were a couple of minor side effects for me however the benefits outweighed any further procrastination taking them

Calm and True Acceptance of our mental health symptoms is a huge key that unlocks the door to having better peace of mind

My reference for rebuilding my brain is Dr Claire Weekes.....the only psychiatrist that wrote a book about her anxiety/depression.....called 'Self Help for your Nerves' The title of the book is dated but she explains how to exercise 'Calm & True Acceptance' of our symptoms....

Thankyou Miss T for the thread topic 🙂

My kind thoughts

Paul

Both mental illness and the side effects of tablets and ECT can cause cognitive deficits. What have others found helpful in rebuilding their brain?

Miss T,

welcome. This is an interesting question. I must admire I put my declining memory and cognitive deficiencies to my increasing age not my mental illness and medication.

I wonder do I have more to worry about?

I am wondering what others will write,
