Hi there and welcome. Yes this can be one of the side effects gradually over time creeping up over you every so often. I have had similar experience with medication, not at a rapid rate just very gradual. I am so happy to hear that you are in a good place emotionally and that you feel strong enough to come forward with the decision to slowly come off your medication. my best wishes to you. please consult with your GP during this process as they will be able to monitor you as I wouldn't recommend flying solo when detoxing, that is when you may need the support the most. 🙂 Please take care and join us again very soon Venessa.

Hi, I have been on antidepressants since late July last year. I have found my weight has been increasing steadily since being on them. My GP said that the medication would make me loose weight. I was doing solid exercise and healthy eating before I had a mild injury. Has anyone else gained weight whilst being on anti depressants ? I am now in a good place emotionally and would like to reduce my meds and eventually get off them completely. Is anyone slowly detoxing from medication ?

Hey Opalite. AD's can cause weight gain and loss. In my case they have caused gain when not exercising and sometimes making hard to loose weight. I have been on med's for 10 years and became resistant to one brand and then switching all under appropriate professional guidance. I thinking coming off med's can be achieved dependent on the professional medical advice. In my case for example I will probably be on them for life due to the severity and type of depression I have inclusive of the impacts on my life. All the best
