Hi neenie87

I haven't tried natural remedies specifically for anxiety but I find vitamin d helps a lot with depression. For my anxiety I've cut out sugar and tea and coffee no sugar or caffeine has helped beyond my expectations.

Hi Neenie87,

Thanks for you post and this is a great question to raise. There are so many different ways in which people have felt better in their mood and worry. It is such an individual experience. I suspect that many people may have visited a health food store or naturopath and gained some advise. What it often comes down to is trial and error. I would always recommend that you discuss any new treatment (natural or not) with your GP. Sometimes herbs and things you can buy at the health food store can interact with medications you may be taking or have side effects that you are not aware of.

There is one way to look at different strategies and that is by comparing the documented evidence that has been conducted on a particular treatment. This means research studies, where people have been able to feed back about their experience in the therapy, have been conducted and shared. The four strategies that have the most weight (proof) in evidence in treating low mood include:

Antidepressant Medications

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy

Exercise

Mindfulness

I have attached a great resources that Beyond Blue has put together that ranks different treatment strategies in terms of evidence which you can look at by going here.

I wish you the best on your quest to find healing in what ever shape fits you.

I know this is an old post. But I've been taking a blend of various mushrooms with medicinal properties. I never suffered from panic attacks, but have had depression in the past and some anxiety.

You can do your own research or chat with a Naturopath about those and if they would help you. I have also been taking them to prevent other issues and balance my system.

I've been geting them from a trusted vendor through a friend's recommendation.

Getting enough Vit D is also important - I used to live in Seattle where it's overccasst most of the winter and started taking this as well as finding out I had Vit B12 deficiency from my doctor. I am in South Australia now and there's much more light but even the winters can reduce your vit D - specially if you work indoors a lot.

Again worth speaking to a Naturopath or GP about your specifics.

I have also been looking at meditation and deep breathing as part of the things i've done to improve my mental health in the past year and a combination of all these things have helped me.
