Hi Grace,

Sometimes trauma therapy is good for low self esteem, helping to create safety and heal from old wounds.

That would mean looking for a therapist who was trauma informed.

Some ppl say that it doesn't matter as much which therapy u do, the most important thing is the relationship, that you like, trust and feel you can easily and comfortably talk to your therapist.

Would you feel comfortable sharing any more about Ur situation

I can think of some support groups and organisations but am not sure if they apply to you.

Hello Dear shyGrace,

A very warm and caring welcome to the forums...

I am sorry your struggling with low self esteem....I seem to do that in times of my depression/anxiety flaring up...

I read in another thread you replied to about needing help about getting some professional help..

I think a good first step would be to have an honest talk to your Dr about how you are feeling and your thoughts about your low esteem...,Your Dr, can set up a mental health care plan for you, which does give you I think 10 free sessions with a psychologist...and it’s up to you who you want to know about your mental health...

While I’m not 100% sure, I don’t think work really needs to know unless your low esteem/ mental health can in some way can cause something to go wrong with your place of work....or cause danger to those you work with...

Maybe joining a group of people that has the same interests/hobbies as you do could help...I know that when I got involved with a new hobby I do like to talk to others about it and enjoy the conversation without being so shy...

I so much can relate to your shyness...I always thought I was one of the most shyest people around...You are not alone Dear shyGrace, I am when I can be...along with our beautiful community members here... if you feel up to talking..

Kind thoughts with my caring thoughts..

Grandy..

Hello shyGrace,

I agree with the other comments about considering some professional counselling or therapy to work through these feelings and build strategies to help.

I have struggled with low-self esteem myself for my whole life, now that I see my psychologist regularly this has definitely improved.

On a more immediate, practical level something else I've found effective to boost myself up are self-love rituals like saying positive affirmations. Each day I would make time to repeat to myself words like "I am strong, I am powerful, I am confident, I love myself" - a little bit each day can really help.

Hope this helps.
