Medication, quitting and side effects

Hi all,

I have been taking medication for approximately 10 years now. I didn't realise how powerful it was until my doctor told me that it was now a restricted drug and he would no longer give me a script for it. I though it would be a good time for me to stop taking it. Even though I am taking a very minor dose of once every evening, the withdrawal symptoms were so powerful I had to visit another doctor who gave me a script. Since then I have spent a lot of time on google and have learnt that this drug has very strong side effects when trying to stop cold Turkey. I am looking for advice from anyone else who has been taking this drug and would like to stop. I now know that just stop taking it is not an option for me right now, as it would be too difficult for me, especially as I work in a stressful work environment. Look forward to any replies.

Well mate, we cant advise on medications, dosages etc.

I suggest you seek another doctor for advice.

hi Jaxon, although we are unable to help you in regards to your medication, but from experience when I had to stop taking an antidepressant (AD) it was horrible, so I was given another medicine to try and help me, but further down the track if I had to stop a AD then I was put on a very low dose of the new AD, whether this is allowed or not it happened with me, because I always have a bad reaction when starting or stopping any new medication, and to try and talk with your psychologist in a session while you feel extremely nausea is not very pleasant.
What the net says about medication has to be told just to cover the company legally, but not all of it will happen to you, or it may never affect you, just saying.
Has the new doctor given you a script for the same AD, because my doctor has to ring up a number to authorise me to get scripts as it too is a restricted AD. Geoff.
