I just have to say that ive had an amazing GP. I didnt know i had anxiety and she pinpointed absolutely everything that ive been feeling. She asked me simple questions that made me realise that i have anxiety. Ive been living with this and ive had no idea. I had a panic attack and she told me that she can get me help for it. She has been willing to help me and not only has she been just a doctor shes been talking to me like a person. Thats so important. Shes been really helping me. She is very understanding and caring. I felt instant connection. She even said if i needed to talk that i can come back anytime. I really needed that support and im glad that its from my GP. I even confessed a few things to her about myself and she talks to me not like a doctor but as a person

dear Ilovetoread, this is almost 2 years old, but it's certainly worth beingresurrected again because it's so important that everyone has a doctor who they can relate to without any hesitation of being embarrassed.

My own doctor is very good who has now stopped being a GP and deals in skin cancer, but he has kept one or two of his patients to treat as a doctor, and thankfully he decided to keep me.

He's actually like having a mate as we can talk about anything without any fear of upsetting each other. Geoff.

Hi Geoff,

That's really good about your doctor keeping you as a patient. Good docs are hard to find. My GP also has a small child like me so she has been a good source of suggestions that might actually work and not just something that is in a book. She also has showed me that we are all human and even doctors have children that behave their age (i.e. 2.5 year old need I say more!). I don't have experience besides my own to know what is realist expectations i.e. thinking you can get a 2.5 year old to behave to go out to dinner all together! It took a world of pressure of me to know my son was just being his age and we are not raising ADHD child!

dear Ilovetoread, that's great that your doctor can certainly relate to your circumstances, because it means the world.

My doctor has a grown up son who had been struggling with depression and when I saw his face drop and almost a tear came to his eye I felt so sorry for him when he mentioned it to me.

We didn't have long to talk about it, which I am so sorry that we didn't, but that's how close we get on. L Geoff. x
