Hey everyone, I’m a 21 year old female and I was diagnosed with bipolar about three years ago now. I’ve been on a cocktail of meds since I was like 15. Recently I started feeling like I’m going downhill again. Uni + work + life stressors is just all piling up. I guess I’m really scared of going backwards. I’ve been having those depressed thoughts and random anxieties pop up worse than usual. My mum thinks I need a psychiatric review of my condition and medications but it’s just so bloody expensive and exhausting. Things just feel too hard and it really just makes me want to curl up in a ball and block out the background noise. Idk what to do.

Hi my friend!

Welcome to the forum😊

I am so sorry that you have been suffering from mental health issues since such a young age. It must be frustrating to have to take so many medications.

It sounds like you have a lot on your plate right now. Would you like to list all your tasks and prioritise them?

Then, perhaps you could consider putting the tasks at the bottom of your list on hold for now, if that feels manageable for you.

I totally understand that medications can be expensive and may add an extra burden.

I highly recommend SANE Australia. It is an organisation that offers a range of free mental health support services, including their Recovery Club program, which provides group and 1:1 support, as well as events and resources. You can reach out to them by phone or webchat.

Here is the link to their support services:
https://www.sane.org/get-support/sane-support-services

Another good option is Headspace, which offers services specifically for young people aged 15 to 25.

https://headspace.org.au/online-and-phone-support/connect-with-us/?gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=20433415091&gbraid=0AAAAADK-2MXoX--9ABm1D2zF9jyYHOZex&gclid=CjwKCAjwtp7VBhBjEiwAJfpV-3W19LYSlWHrklnYGTP9eaLCStHDqtrnUIgWHDk6jP0Z80Z19h37EhoCtRMQAvD_BwE

I also heard that you want to “curl up in a ball” and “block out the background noise”. That could be a sign that your body needs some rest.

Warm regards,

LotusAfterRain
