Getting an accurate diagnosis can be hard, it took me 7 to get diagnosed with PTSD then another 4 before BPD which finally feels right.
I guess my advice to you is to go back to your GP and raise your concerns and ask to be referred to a different psychiatrist for review. I know this in itself can be really hard for some people, so please try to let your friends and family help you if you need it ie attending appointments and advocating for you.

I was diagnosed with schizophrenia but I'm learning about BPD and i feel its the cause of my hallucinations. I personally believe I have 5 or potentially more of the 9 symptoms I didnt really understand all of the criteria. And my hallucinations only occur when im under emotional or mental distress.

I have symptoms of schizophrenia too so maybe I have both or neither, idk really know im just lost and confused and distressed about this whole thing.

I cant get into a new therapist until February next year at minimum. This post probably doesnt fit but idk where to ask.

Hi Sareus

I’m very sorry to learn that you are unwell and experiencing hallucinations whilst under distress. I can’t even imagine how difficult that must be—hugs to you.

I fully support your independent research efforts and encourage you to advocate for yourself. Getting a second opinion sounds like a good idea given your insights and doubt. You have nothing to lose by being thorough and much to potentially gain if you are right.

All people can mistakes—including psychiatrists and psychologists. From my experience I’ve found that the ability to accurately diagnose and effectively treat mental health conditions can vary widely from practitioner to practitioner.
You know yourself best, as do your friends and family. It could be worth talking to your friends/family and seeking their input and support as you move toward a second opinion.
Kind thoughts to you
