Hi,

I am helping a friend to ask if there are any recommended psychologist who would be good to manage the shunning from friends and family after leaving the Jehovahs Witness.

Welcome and thank you for your message; your friend is very lucky to have support like you.

Unfortunately we can't recommend psychologists here on the forums.

What I can suggest though is having a google search for therapists in Melbourne who specialise in post cult counselling. To be clear, this isn't judgement on Jehovah's witness (or any religion/faith) but it means they specialise in rebuilding trust, the grief of relationships, managing the complex emotions and processing the trauma which standard therapists may not have understanding of. Alternatively, grief therapists can also be great to work with for processing the loss of being isolated from relationships.

Hope your friend is able to find someone; there's a lot of online support out there for others in the same boat.
