Hi dare2diva

Mindfulness is a state of mind that we can utilize when under stress. There have been many people on the forums that have asked the same question...I still find mindfulness a difficult concept with my own set of symptoms....(left over anxiety issues)

There are heaps of members that have shared their thoughts on our 'Mindfulness' thread...I have placed the link below....It has excellent support/advice!

HI All

I am just wondering about what others do in terms of mindfulness. I do colouring and drinking pots of tea out of my nice tea set for 1.I also try to meditate every day, This is a hard thing but I still try. One of my work colleagues do meditation with us ever week which is great.

What do you do for mindfulness? What meditation videos have you found online that helps you? Do you know of any good blogs or podcasts for mindfulness or meditation? I am just trying to mix things up a bit.

I hope you are all well. Things do get better.

Hi Dare2diva,

Great post there! For me, mindfulness is putting pen to paper. I often gain so much more clarity as to what I need to do more of, and or less of, and feel a great sense of relief when things are there in front of me in black and white.

If I want to really chill out and switch off, I play solitaire on the computer, or games on my phone. sometimes I just need to 'numb' my mind, or at least slow it down a bit.

Mind you though, since I got my motorbike learners, just before Christmas, I have discovered that that too is a WONDERFUL release of stress and tension! Motorbike riding is awesome fun and I love it! It's just me, and the wind in my hair! ..... well, with the hair that's not all covered by my helmet anyway.

And yes, prayer and meditation are also great for practicing mindfulness. And I can do that at any time I like.

Although I don't really listen to pod casts or do online meditation either, so I can't really recommend anything in that regard.

Anyway, take care. Hope you get some more great ideas. xo

Hi Dare2diva,

Paul has posted a link to an exceptional thread on the BB Forum above. There are a lot of suggestions and discussions on mindfulness there. I have recently come across a podcast on the abc called Mindfully. It is a great start for anyone interesting in getting started on their Mindfulness journey.. You can find it by heading here....

https://www.abc.net.au/radio/programs/mindfully/

I have recently watched a video by Eckhart Tolle (he wrote the 'Power of Now') and in this video talks about stoping the processing of attaching feeling to a thought and that it is not as easy as it sounds. He emphasises that starting small is really important and that practicing even only a couple of minutes of mindfulness practice daily is a good starting point. You can have a look at this short video about thinking but heading here... https://youtu.be/dTFDfR47dl4

Another app you could try is called Smiling Mind. It is really easy to use and free and has a whole bunch of short mindfulness practices you could start to try.

Mindfulness doesn't have to come in an app or podcast or a video. It can come from cooking or bird watching or walking - or even mindfully eating a meal or mindfully being present in a meeting. It is a very individual activity and finding what works the best for you is often by trial and error. I wish you the best on this journey.

Hi dare2diva,

Ohh mindfulness is my jam!

Colouring and pots of tea is so great for mindfulness, but with mindfulness you can literally do anything and practice mindfulness alongside it.

If you take a moment to think about things you do throughout the day, how might you be able to add a bit of mindfulness with it? Showering can be a great one - focusing on the temperature of the water, sense of shampoo, smell of the body wash or soap... There are also scripts for mindful eating - there is a super long guide about 'mindfully eating a raisin' but you can apply this technique to any food that you enjoy.

I think with mindfulness it is a bit of a practice. There are so many techniques out there but it's just finding what works for you.
