Hello Niha, and a warm welcome to the forums.

I can't offer you much advice other than what Aphador and Sleepy have already given you but happy to talk with you.

One answer to the title of your thread depends on your age group and remember that each state has its own rules, however, a person aged 16 has a right to see a doctor without their parents knowing, so f you can please get back to us that would be great.

Kids Helpline 1800 55 1800 are available for people up to the age of 25 years of age, https://kidshelpline.com.au/get-help/webchat-counselling and also by phone.

Recently i’ve been throwing up after binge eating, i don’t want to self diagnose but i think i have a binge eating disorder. i just wish to professionally discuss it with someone, to tell them how i feel, what i do when i eat, what goes on. my connection with food. i asked to book in with one but my parents didn’t let me.

Hi Niha,

Welcome to the forums! 🙂

Usually, the first point of contact would be with a GP, who would then be able to refer you to a psychologist (under a mental health plan) if it is required.

This website has all the information about seeing the GP (which is completely fine) without your parents:

https://yla.org.au/nsw/topics/health-love-and-sex/your-rights-at-the-doctor/

If you are confused about anything here (like informed consent, or just how to book appointments), let me know, and I will talk about it with you 🙂 I check the threads most mornings.

I hope this has been helpful!

Aphador 🙂

Hey Niha - welcome

I have also struggled with eating disorders and binge eating.
You can also call the Butterfly foundation https://butterfly.org.au/get-support/helpline/

they might have some ways you can get help without telling your parents

their phoneline is open to midnight every night.

Do you have any other caring adults in your life other than your parents? They may be able to help you find someone good. Here for you.
