Hi Mandalaar

Forgot to mention 1 very important other thing that I did during the most difficult times -

Yoga every night before bed. I purchased a book of yoga poses. There was a routine for specific purposes. I did these poses for menopause every night. I'm sure they helped. BTW, couldn't do all of them because my body was not nimble enough, but did most.

Hi all, this is my first post. I am 50 years old an anxiety sufferer, 4 months post op gastric sleeve and 3 months post op gallbladder removal. I am having many many symptoms of menopause, I see my GP next week. I was wondering if HRT has interfered with anyone's medication and whether you can take HRT without a gallbladder. Thank you in advance

Hello Mandalaar and warm welcome to Beyond Blue forums

There has been a lot of things happening for you over the past few months. Operations are not the best are they. I'm not a health professional so not able to answer your questions about HRT, anxiety medication and no gallbladder. There maybe others on the forums who have had similar operations and are going through menopause.

Maybe write down these questions to take to your doctor when you visit next week?

Just as an aside - I chose not to take HRT, more from a values about life than anything else. It wasn't easy, but it was doable. If you need to go down that path.

Let us know what happens, and I can share some more info if you want it about doing it without HRT if you need to.

Kind regards

PamelaR

Hello Mandalaar....

Have a look into a product called happy hormones. It is a natural product. Just google happy hormones.

Hi Mandalaar

Thank you for your response. I've had the dreaded winter bug and just starting to feel okay.

So some of the things I did to help me through menopause:

had regular accupuncture (once / twice a month) for a couple of years (this is expensive, but I was lucky to be in a very good paying job at the time)

used a natural cream to help with the reduction in hormones. You'll need to work out if it is your progestrone or estrogen that is low. It changes as you progress through menopause

get a good book about doing menopause the natural way. When I went through there was this doctor who published a book on doing it naturally (can't remember her name now), but I'm sure there are others out there that will give tips and hints about what you're going through and the best ways to manage.

exercise - I did aqua aerobics and swam regularly (3 - 4 times a week).

took St. John's Wort at night to help sleep. But you should make sure this is okay to take. I believe it doesn't go very well with blood pressure meds.

ate well - fresh fruit, veg, protein. Reduced dairy intake. (This will be good for your (no) gallbladder).

good socialising with friends.

Make it sound easy don't I. Well, it was hard work and it wasn't all rosy. There were times I'd wake up nightly and my bed clothes were soaking wet. Ugh. But those passed. Interestingly, I've always had issues with perspiring (because of my Asian heritage I think), so this didn't bother me too much.

Hope some of this helps Mandalaar. If there's anything you want to know, please ask. Just hope I respond a little sooner next time. It's not your fault. I've just been offline for some weeks now.

Kind regards

PamelaR
