      <description>I wasn't sure where to post this, but I figured it fits into the category of staying well/what works for others.  So I'm wondering, does anyone have some advice/books/forums/site suggestions on building confidence, time management and goal setting? Coz frankly I suck at all three (among other things).  I have tried a number of different websites and books/techniques but I figure some of you have some ideas that might be better than what I've already tried.  I guess a part of it is wanting to change and doing what's necessary to make those changes.  Change is really hard!  I'm open to suggestions. &lt;P&gt;A New Earth - Eckhart Tolle&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;The Success Principles - Jack Canfield&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Emotional Intelligence - Daniel Goleman&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Loving What Is - Byron Katie&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Awaken The Giant Within - Anthony Robbins...&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Thats what I have here with me now, hence me being able to list them off like this but I reckon...&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;...when the student is ready, the right and best resources will always manifest!&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;The Teachings of Abraham-Hicks, may blow your mind too!&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Im big on Creativity - Its my PhD, and Creativity helps on all levels...professional and personal.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;What is it about those 'three - time management, self-confidence and goal-setting' that you find most challenging?&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;SourceShield has already given you a range of suggestions. My Dad has the book Emotional Intelligence by Daniel Goleman that SourceShield recommended, which is something I have been meaning to read for a while!&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;I recommend reading &lt;STRONG&gt;The Art of Procrastination &lt;/STRONG&gt;by John Perry - this small book has great tips on how to make habits like procrastination work in your favour, and the humour throughout makes it an enjoyable read!&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;Wow I think SourceShield gave you so many different and good books. I am a bit alternate I think but Ill put it out there and the choice is yours.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;I love Rick Hanson ( mindfulness and taking in the good)&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;I love Jon Kabat Zinn ( mindfulness Guru and a free mindfulness course is palousemindfulness.com&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;I love Marianne Williamson and of course Tony Robbins ( SourceShield ) Mentioned he is intense and motivating.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Louise Hay is always awesome she has many books, even Dorreen Virtue who is the Angel Guru but she does have a degree in psychology.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;If you really want to change thought patterns google CBT ( Cognitive Behaviour Therapy) and DBT Marsha Linehan ( but though she is my idol she deals with intense therapy for suicide and BPD.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Ted Talks on you tube ( all different subjects)&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;and of course "smiling minds " app - meditation and being in the moment. &lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Wayne Dwyer if not already said and that's all I can think of right now &lt;span class="lia-unicode-emoji" title=":slightly_smiling_face:"&gt;🙂&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;Steven Covey's 7 Habits of Highly Effective People is a terrific book. You can look up a summary of it on the internet to give you an idea of what is covered.  I read it for work but the personal applications were profound in terms of understanding self, my circle of influence (what you can and cannot control), effective time management and goal setting.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Also look up on the internet Time Management Matrix Merrill and Covey 1994. &lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;You are right, change is hard.  The book above will give you what you need but the motivation and willingness to change are tough. &lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt; "Who Moved my Cheese" by Dr Spencer Johnson is a really easy read and written as a story but aims at getting you to think differently about change and inertia. &lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;I work as a Business Analyst for a global corporate company. I specialise in Process Improvement (eg. streamlining, efficiency and time management) and Change Management.  I am happy to help you as you work through this. &lt;/P&gt;

      <description>Wow! Thank you Sourceshield.  I have several of these on my shelf already...Louise Hay books are great and also the creative visualisation and Echkart Tolle.  Always room to expand on my bookshelf and refer back to the old classics.  I might try the positive thinking and art of procrastination, I'm certainly an expert at that one! What do I find most challenging about the three things?  Everything!  My depression has taken away my motivation and enthusiasm for most things; my time management doesn't exist - I can't focus on anything for too long, am very forgetful and struggle with any kind of task that requires organisation; my confidence has been stripped away by my depression, especially as I've gotten older (should be the other way round..?) Anyway that's me.  That's a lot of reading, should keep me busy a little while! Cheers, GI</description>

&lt;P&gt;I totally hear you re: confidence.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;I used to be a professional performing artist...then had a major 'breakdown'...after that my confidence was non-existent...BUT - I feel that I am ready to get back out there, and me and the mutt - the one in the pic, are gonna do some street theatre and busking together!&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;I've decided that the only way for me to beat the 'nerves' is to just...DO IT!.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Maybe its because Im gonna be 40yrs in a couple months but I feel that I cant go on like this, and let my life just slip by without me being fully active in it!&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;I love singing and dancing and entertaining people and performing...it can be used as a form of CreativityTherapy!&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;So, Im going to 'therapise' myself on this one...and expose myself to those 'nerves'...bugger it!&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;I can do this!&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;And, so can you!&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;BabySteps, okay?&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;I know that may sound cliche, but you dont get it...until you get it...we've been through a lot.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Depression can really ravage the body-mind connection, and its just not possible to 'just get over it', like people used to believe. &lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Depression etc, are really debilitating. &lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;But, the way I see it is...&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;...I go from not knowing 'the dance'...to knowing 'the dance' - whats in-between, a lot of practice, grit and determination. &lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;You ALWAYS feel silly and stupid at the start - when youre learning a new routine...thats just how it is...for all of us.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;But, practice pays off, and eventually, the muscle-memory kicks-in...and youre dancing like a pro.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;So too is it true for all things in life...&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;We go from not being confident, to being confident...&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Whats in-between?&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Grit&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Patience&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Practice&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Sweat&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Tears&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Determination&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Perseverance&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Revelation&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Epiphany&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;...and eventually...&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;We feel a lot more...whatever it is that we are seeking.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;I believe in you, and as mentioned, I have some creativity tips handy too!&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;If ever you need a 'ConfidenceBuilding Buddy' - count me in!&lt;/P&gt;

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Just Googled DBT by Marsha... Found this workbook on DBT.  So far it's great.  I've done some CBT and ACT (acceptance and commitment therapy) by Russ Harris: The happiness trap, the confidence gap, the reality slap.  These are all great too.  I think I just really need a workbook rather than just trying to apply stuff I've read.  Gotta be more proactive!  Thanks again.       <description>Wonderful post! Thank you SS.  I've decided to try and get back out there (have isolated for so long) and I've enlisted myself in a couple of meetups in my area.  FearFactor: 100/10.  Gotta try. Needless to say I'm scared shtless lol.  I tend to join stuff and back out at the last minute, so let's see how I go this time.  Turning 40 is a wonderful milestone.  It's a very reflective time - looking back on what you've achieved, etc.  I think most of us put too much pressure on ourselves to achieve certain things by a certain age.. I was petrified of turning 40 and then when it actually happened I kinda felt reborn (pity it didn't last lol). But at the time it was a great opportunity for me to reach some goals.  I started a women's social group, got fit, got social, got out there.. 40 seems like a lifetime ago, (although it was only a couple of years ago).  I wish I could be that confident person again (in hindsight, I think I was just manic at the time lol)Enjoy this time of your life - you'll never be 40 again!</description>

&lt;P&gt;I listen to a lot of motivation videos from YouTube, people make many of them regarding different topics. I love ones about changing to a positive mindset, achieving success etc.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;This is one of my favourites below (They use movie clips as the background with the voice overs of many motivational speakers)&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;YES - I get on MeetUp as well...I was running LaughterMeditation Workshops through MeetUp, but with the move to Melbourne coming up, I have slowed down on all that for now.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;I feel that in many, many, many ways...I am getting 'better' as I age. &lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Like a fine wine!&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Still have a few limiting-beliefs to work through...but I am encouraged by your words, and many others that post to the forums as well. &lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;What is age...but a number?!?!?. &lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;I'd like to personally encourage you to just...GO FOR IT!.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;I have an 'audition' on Monday, as a performer, and as an Anti-Bullying Coach with Incursions R US. &lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;I am nervous....but too bad for me!&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;I am going do this...and I can coach myself through this!&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Anytime you need a little extra support with all that you aspire to do in your life...just know that I get it, and that I am here for ya!&lt;/P&gt;

It helped me immensely at a time when I really needed someone to show me the way.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Often in life it is the subtle changes of the unexpected that have the most profound changes in our lives. The indirect affects us more than the direct. His book "&lt;STRONG&gt;Unstoppable&lt;/STRONG&gt;" is most likely the best indirect and subtle change you are looking for.&lt;/P&gt;
