Hey Lost, this is actually a great idea! I was just thinking I need a project and I have trouble sticking to a journal/diary (it's so morbid lol). I recently created a scrapbook album for a friend and really enjoyed the project, was a lot of fun, so maybe this is a better way of expressing thoughts, in a more vibrant, colorful and artistic way.. as Sourceshield said, just start anywhere! you can always add more/edit/take out etc. Maybe start with something you're really proud of - write down some ideas and gather some photos/drawings/stickers.. Stickers are awesome! Have a look at pinterest or Google for more ideas. Have fun! I may just do this myself, so thank you for the idea!

Has anyone ever created a scrapbook/ journal to help with their journey. I have the means and opportunity but am unsure on how to start and was wondering if anyone had managed this?Likewise, what would you include in your scrapbook?

Thanks.

Hey!

I've had many journals over the years.

Some of the best advice I ever got about starting anything was...to just start, the momentum will take care of the rest!

I keep my poetry, songwords and lyrics, quotes, secrets...pics and stuff that meant something to me in that moment in the journal.

I find that its best to treat the journal/scrapbook like you would a dear friend - A really good friend is someone that you dont have to see everyday but one that you know is there when you need them.

Same with a journal - I dont force the writing or make the journal entry some kind of chore or job that I MUST do...cause that just gets boring, but more-so, just like a good friend...when I need to be totally and completely candid and say what I want to say without judgement, I have the journal that I can put that energy into and release, trusting that my journal keeps my words and feelings safe...just like a dear friend would!

Go for it, and do it your way!

Have fun.

MuchLove

Hi Lostflutterby, this is a great topic!

I endorse SourceShield's advice about just starting somewhere. Starting small can help, and will progress with time. It can be quite a therapeutic activity which is best when not rushed. When I was recovering from mental illness several years ago, I started 'collaging', which was my own take on scrapbooking. I bought A3 display folders from Officeworks (not everywhere stocks them), an A3 pad of paper sheets and Sellotape Sticky Dots to attach pictures etc. to the sheets. I have six or seven of these folders full of pages I created, some which look great, and others which served as more of a distraction/engaging activity.

I created pages of quotes from magazines/pamphlets, photo collage pages, I used magazine images, handwritten cards I received, I typed pages of happy memories (and stuck the A4 pages onto an A3 sheet), wrote poems etc. There are so many possibilities. It's useful to have a drawer or folder you can keep magazine clippings, photographs and other material in. I have not done any of this 'collaging' for years, but I am glad that I did do it, as now I can look back at pages filled with memories, inspiring quotes and striking images.

Best wishes,

Zeal
